Location-: The location is fantastic. It is walking distance to the major sites such Acropolis, Plaka Stairs, Anafiotika, Syntagma Square, Changing of Guards , Roman Agora, Hadrian’s Library, Monastiraki Flea Market , Pandrossou Street Shopping. It is surrounded by an abundance of eateries, cafes and restaurants. I enjoyed looking at the decor of restaurants and I am pleased to find many tastefully furnished restaurants there. It is about 5 mins walk to Monastiraki Metro Station and 10 mins walk to Syntagma Metro Station. Direct Metro from Athens Airport to Monastiraki Station on the blue line.
Furnishing and Amenities-: The beds are firm and comfortable. The blankets are thick and of good quality. All the amenities are provided . I like the clean, thick towels. The room is cozy and spacious with a balcony looking into the small street. However, it is quiet and peaceful for a restful night. The bathroom is big and modern. I like strong water pressure. A small gripe is that shower screen is too short in length , causing the water to wet the toilet floor. This makes the toilet unpleasant when the floor is wet. I have also brought up this feedback to the reception staffs when I checked out. There is small lift which is life-saver for my big and heavy luggage.
Rooftop Bar-: It is a lovely place to relax after a long day of exploring the city. There is a full view of the Parthenon of Acropolis . We were allowed to go up even though we did not buy a drink. Plenty of outdoor arm chairs for us to relax and enjoy the view.
Greek Buffet Breakfast-: The food is delicious. It has a wide variety of choices. It includes some Greek specialities like Greek honey, Greek honey, Greek salad, Greek cake, Greek cheese pastry, Feta cheese, jams which taste home - made . I had a great time - having a delicious breakfast in a cozy and modern setting overlooking the morning activities outside the window.
Complimentary Coffee, Tea and Biscuits-: It is a very nice gesture to offer these in the afternoon, allowing the guests to take a break in the cozy breakfast restaurant. There are couch and arm chairs for guests to sit back and relax.
Service and Hospitality-: In relativity , the staffs at Plaka Hotel go out of the way to help me when I made enquiries. To me, the Greek service industry is generally poor , but the staffs at Plaka Hotel exceeded my expectations. The other gripe is a female staff reminding us that the time to check out is 11am when she was checking with us how things were as part of the customer service. If came across to us that the purpose was to remind us to check out even though she started by asking us how was everything, is everything fine ...it find this reminder unnecessary.
Will I return ? Yes, I will stay at Plaka Hotel again if I visit Athens again. I will recommend Plaka Hotel to my friends.
Thank you for making my stay a pleasant and comfortable one , Plaka Hotel...
Read moreThe rooms at this hotel are nice for the price and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The hotel is near tourist hotspots like the Acropolis, Plaka and Monastiraki areas and despite this our room was quite quiet. The room had a large TV, a small closet, a work station, mini fridge, tea/coffee station and had good WiFi. The lighting was good and not too bright and the window let in a lot of natural daylight during the day. We wish the balcony had a couple of chairs on it because it is a nice area but the rooftop bar makes up for what the room balcony lacks. The bathroom had great water pressure and I felt this was one of the best showers I had during my time in Greece. The shampoo, shower gel and handsoap all smelled nice and had a touch of sea salt during our stay. The towels were clean and soft. We felt the shower could use improvement as it is a little small and it leaked water through the doors so we had to put a towel down to help with the water. The rooftop bar is fantastic and they had a good variety of well made cocktails and some non-alcoholic options. It is absolutely worth checking out and is open 24/7 but the bar is open from 6 pm to midnight. They had some good options too for food but we felt you would pay a premium here for the drinks and food compared to other restaurants in the area. We thought the view justified it as it gives one of the best views of the Acropolis and we enjoyed a very nice sunset here as well. The breakfast was decent and had enough variety. There were breakfast staples like bread, cereals, sausages, scrambled eggs and hard-boiled eggs. They also had a couple of salads, vegetables, fruit slices and some preserved fruits. They had a good selection of Greek breakfast items like yoghurt, honey, cheese and spinach pies and some desserts. The beverage station included a coffee making machine, juice and water. The staff we interacted with were welcoming and efficient. We paid the city tax on arrival and were quickly handed out room keys. At breakfast a lady came to check in on us and other guests to ask us about our stay and spoke to other guests in other languages. The hotel has a laundry service and baggage storage and had we stayed longer here we would consider trying these out. This was a good stay in Athens and we were happy with the price in March. We enjoyed being surrounded but cafes, restaurants and shops and being very close to the major sights of Athens. There are also quite a few convenience and grocerg stores nearby but many closed around 9 pm during our stay. The Monastiraki metro station is very close too and it takes about an hour to get here from the airport. You can keep using metro to get around the area too but we found it quite walkable for the activities we...
