Taverna Portoni — Restaurant in Lefkada Municipality

Very bad experience. An older man, probably the chef or owner was extremely unfriendly when we paid. We went to Taverna Portoni for lunch. We had to wait a long time to be served and were about to leave, even though there was not too much going on at that time. We ordered something anyway, as many other tourists had gone to eat in the meantime. We ordered a moussaka, a saganaki, a coke and a frappe. A few minutes later we were told that there was no coffee. At 13:00 in the afternoon! The food and drinks were then served quickly and were fine. I went inside and asked an older man for the bill, as the waitress was not there. When I asked why there is bread on the bill that we hadn't ordered, the man became extremely unfriendly and shouted through the restaurant. I could not understand everything. In the meantime, the waitress arrived and tried to calm the man down. The waitress explained to me in a very friendly way that when the bread is put on the table, you have to say that you don't want it. The older man, however, was still shouting. Delicious food, nice staff, great prices. We were in Agios Nikitas for a week and ate there almost every night. During the day, we enjoyed their cafe, with the perfect view over the beach. Everything we tried was delicious and fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The personnel is very nice, friendly and kind. I still dream of the lamb, the pork, the aubergines! An absolute stunning spot just by the ocean front with really delicious fresh food, the seafood in particular being amazing! The only thing letting this place down is the service. We’re not normally people who care about this but the staff were quite inattentive, when we arrived we weren’t greeted or given menus for a while and it was difficult to get their attention. This would’ve been more than fine if they were busy but we were 1 of 4 tables. Still recommend though but just be aware of this...
