Very nice food and lovely service, spent over 5 whole hours here drinking lovely wines and eating superb fish. We even received complementary wine from the restaurant which makes a restaurant visit even more great than it already is. Next to the cuisine, the vibe of the restaurant next to a beautiful lake is wonderful! The next time in Agios Nikolaos, my lunch and/or dinner will be here again

Enttäuschende Pizza Hawaii – Leider nur Tiefkühlqualität Ich war wirklich enttäuscht von meinem letzten Besuch in diesem Restaurant, insbesondere von der bestellten Pizza Hawaii. Ich hatte mich auf eine frisch zubereitete Pizza gefreut, bekam aber leider eine offensichtliche Tiefkühlpizza serviert. Das ist für ein Restaurant, das frische Speisen anbieten sollte, absolut inakzeptabel. Der Teig geschmacklos, der Käse hatte diese typische Tiefkühl-Konsistenz und der Belag wirkte lieblos aufgeworfen. Es gab keinerlei Anzeichen von Frische oder handwerklicher Zubereitung. Wenn ich eine Tiefkühlpizza essen möchte, kann ich diese auch im Supermarkt kaufen und zu Hause zubereiten – dafür muss ich nicht in ein Restaurant gehen und den Preis für eine frische Pizza bezahlen. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt hier überhaupt nicht. Ich hatte mir ein besseres Esserlebnis erhofft und empfehle das Restaurant meiden. Zwei Sterne gebe ich nur, weil die Bestellung schnell bearbeitet wurde, aber die Qualität des Essens war einfach mangelhaft.

Interesting place, great for people watching. Some nice bars, cafes and restaurants around the lake, but the staff try and pull you in from the street (as you would expect in a tourist location). Some of the food stops are a little more expensive than those away from the lake, but definitely worth a look

The lake of Agios Nikolaos in the centre of town is the most famous landmark of Agios Nikolaos.

The lake is also known as Voulismeni (“sunken”), and by the unattractive name of Vromolimni (“Stinkylake”), acquired in times past, when the stagnant waters of the lake gave off an unpleasant smell until a channel was cut to the sea in 1867. That was also when the small bridge was built by Pasha Kostis Adosides.

The lake has distinctive vertical walls reminiscent of a volcanic crater, which is why some people believe that it was created by a sunken volcano. Though seemingly plausible, this theory has gradually lost ground and today it is generally thought that the lake is the mouth of an underground river.

Today the circular lake of Agios Nikolaos, 137 m in diameter, is the town landmark, with many cafés and restaurants set out around it. The lake with its still water, ducks, fishing boats and green slopes is a place which offers peace and pretty pictures.

Unfortunately, experienced a bad experience with price here, and local vendor recommended this restaurant that it was cheap and tasty. The food was reasonable, but it was definitely not cheap. The waiter first gave us the cards and then he said we also have fish, he kept on hammering for fresh sea bass, after this he removed the cards and we couldn't look in the cards. And we thought ok fresh Fish, fine.

In the end we got a whole plate of squid, prawns (without asking for it) and sea bass and Greek Salad. and the amount of this was 184.90 Euros for 4 people with lunch. We had lunch the days before for no more than 60 Euro and the food was even better. They are collaboration practices where vendors recommend restaurants and also get commission themselves for the amount, WHEN WE WANTED TO PIN(CARD) AND PAY there was no option to PIN only pay cash which is already strange. They are scammers we strongly advise against the LAKE Restaurant in Agios Nikolaos. By the way, the bill is in Greek language which is also strange. So we couldn't...

For a drink okay, but don’t eat here. We have been here for the midnight festivities on Easter Saturday and this was the only restaurant we could find a table that was not already reserved. Now I know why. I had Pasta Bolognese (8,90€) and my partner a pizza (9,80€). We had to wait at least 45 min for our food. There were two women in the kitchen cooking, overwhelmed with the food orders. The pizza tasted like a low quality frozen pizza with some topping put on top. My pasta was anything but al dente with no taste at all. On the way to the toilet you could see two rooms full of junk. On the men’s toilet was no toilet seat and you could not use the toilet flush.
