Achilleas Fish Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

After browsing which restaurant to choose, this restaurant felt the most authentic along the sea and there is a greek music in the background (perfect). Mostly the local people are coming here but the tourists are more than welcome. We went two times and Service was not great the second time but that did not spoil our stay at the restaurant as waiters are always pleasant. Prices are affordable averaging: Appetizers (seafood) 10e Seafood 22e Grill 17e House wine 9e 1 liter

Food was great, we have ordered some grill and variety of seafood sardines/anchovies and fresh fried shrimps are excelent! Fish is always fresh and tastes really good. They have also their sunbeds by the sea which we did not go to, but i think it is around 20-25e to use them for the whole day. Sometimes they give wine on the house.

Desetrs are always on the house after having lunch or dinner.

The Achilleas tavern is a traditional greek restaurant with authentic interior. Their tables are positioned near the Nea Chora Beach with a great sea view. I really loved their eggplant salad it was fantastic. Goes good with the bread. Their house white wine was also very good. The grilled calamari (squid) was fresh and top quality. The only thing that I didn’t love quite much were the steamed mussels. They felt old to me. We tried varieties of baklava for dessert and all of them were fantastic. After the dinner we received compliment bottle of olive oil. The experience was very pleasant and I recommend that tavern. If I return in Crete someday I will visit Achilleas restaurant again. For the main we got the mix plate - and i t was really good, and for our 1,5 year old we were offered a small pasta with bolognese alike dressing - was also very tasty. Mix plate was just enough for two and the kids portion could easily feed a grown man. Place is not really equipped to sit a young toddler, we got chair more suited for 3 year old but that was fine with us. When it comes to atmosphere- nice place by the beach nothing exceptional, but the people smoking cigarettes around you DO NOT ADD to the flavour… When asking for the bill most places would serve a snack of some sort and raki. We got the just the snack. When I asked about is raki, answer was If you want you can get some - didn’t feel welcome. We were waiting a bit and started to almost to go already, when raking was finally served. Good food but over all experience...
