Probably the first time I'm leaving a bad review. Freelancers, it's not a place for you - for some reason some of my work related websites (webflow, slack and e.t.c.) were not opening neither on my laptop nor on my husband's laptop. Even on our phones! From the websites we tried, only Facebook and other social media were able to open. But everything "magically" disappeared when I opened a vpn... I'm not sure but it looks like there's some kind of firewall (?) or block on work related websites. Maybe it's made to make freelancers leave because "we're taking space"? I don't know. Honestly - I don't care.
But it's not the only issue here. Service. We went to the first floor and no waiters came to us for 10 minutes - my husband had to come downstairs to ask for a menu. A waiter told him that he'll come upstairs to us soon. No one ever came - my husband had to go downstairs again to order our food. They only time they went upstairs was to bring our food - luckily, not one hour later. The waiting time was okay this time. But we had to go downstairs again to pay for our meals. To me it's unacceptable. The place was not even crowded, it was kinda busy but not enough to forget about customers.
Their food was pretty good although to my taste, eggs were too oily - they even had oil added on top but it's probably something normal here.
Giving two stars only for the good sandwiches and the fantastic view. Never going again and suggesting the owners to check what's going on with their network. And I seriously hope that our problem with websites was...
Read moreFirst of all, service is void of any personality whatsoever and hardly welcoming. The expressionless server just stood at our table waiting for us to order. Uninspired salad Seasonal Green Salad, thin smoked turkey sandwich, but the Mussels Saganaki were good. We chose to sit at one of the two tables in between the two seating areas. Mistake. We were basically invisible to the staff. We embrace the relaxed and unhurried meal culture but after our food was plopped on our table the server never returned. After our bill was delivered (we had to find someone to ask for it long after we finished all our food and drink) we waited another 20 minutes but she e never planned on returning and neglected to inform us that if you are paying with card, you must pay inside. Not a problem, but would have liked to be notified. Too many other great places to eat on Koum Kapi beach or old town....
Read moreAvoid at all cost!!! Absolute tourist trap. After the waiter confirmed that the mussels and shrimps are previously frozen and ensured us that the octopus was fresh, this little plate of two tiny octopus tails, burnt, tasteless, chewy like rubber, shows up at our table (~€9). What is worse, the waiter tried to convince us that we must be new tourists to the island because that’s the normal price for octopus and the taste is a matter of preference?!? This was our last day in Chania and we had amazing octopus for similar prices elsewhere on the Harbour. This is not a matter of price and we are happy to pay a premium for good food and experience. This was a big tourist trap trying to get premium for low quality stuff. Don’t fall for it...
