It took us a while to decide on a hotel in Chania but when we found Hyperion and saw the reviews we decided to go for it. We were unfortunately delayed on our flight and didn't arrive until the very early hours, but even then the reception we received was so warming and friendly. One of the biggest things that stood out on our visit was the friendliness of the entire staff. Even on our last day we were offered towels and showers if we needed something to do until our evening flight, this was after check out! I can't compliment the team enough on their positivity. Every time you walk into the building you are greeted with a smile and hello.
The entire hotel is very modern and clean. The rooms are fresh. Great air con, TV and walk in shower. Complimentary drinks in the fridge (and complimentary drink from the bar). The breakfast buffet includes plenty to start your day well.
The location is also superb, two seconds from the coast which has some great cocktail and lunch places right around the corner. Follow the coast for 10 more minutes and you're at the venetian harbour already. Perfect.
I think honestly my only negative would be that unless you get lucky and are given a room on the top two floors then your view from the balcony is not the best. You can technically see the ocean through a gap in the buildings but it's not much. Also some (ours) of the balcony fronts are wood and some glass. The wood ones make it worse since when you sit down you can't see anything at all. So we barely sat out on it.
Overall we were so happy with our choice. Definitely recommend if you want some...
Read moreI had booked a stay in this hotel for a planned trip to Greece with my girlfriend. The week before we were scheduled to leave, my girlfriend (who is a kidney transplant recipient) was admitted to the hospital as her immune system had completely stopped functioning. Her doctors told her she could not travel internationally as she had no chance in fighting off any infections/viruses she may encounter.
I emailed this hotel directly (it was booked through a third party) and explained the situation, and asked if we'd be able to reschedule rather than cancel as we are planning on visiting Greece later this summer. I did state that I'd be happy to pay any re-scheduling fee or change in rates myself. I received an email from the CEO Lagonikakis George instructing me to reach out to the booking agent to reschedule. The booking agent contacted them multiple times without a response, finally being told by the hotel after our arrival date that the booking was non-refundable and that they were not interested in re-scheduling the dates.
All three other hotels that we booked with in Greece had no problem re-scheduling the dates as they understood the severity of my girlfriend's medical situation. Will still be staying in Chania later this summer, but it will absolutely not be...
Read moreCan’t really complain. Good hotel and good location. Short walk to the beach. Close to but not in the center of the old city so party activities did not disturb the evening. We had a great balcony view of the beach, sunset and the sea with the sound of waves gently crashing on shore. Not every room gets this exposure. Great staff. Great breakfast included with the room. Essentially no parking with the hotel so you need to find somewhere on the street. Hotel is on a busy street but we always found a parking spot within 1 block. I think that we were lucky. Rooms are updated and modern. Our room had air conditioning ducts at the entrance to the room but no ducts/ circulation in the bed area. It was hot at night even though the thermostat was set at 19C. We were able to deal with that by leaving the balcony door open at night. Cute little pool area with bar but it is surrounded by buildings making it less attractive. Not surprising since it is a city hotel. No beach towels available “because of the bacteria “. We had to leave very early, before the breakfast area opened. Staff kindly provided a takeout breakfast in a bag. All in all, good home for a few days....
