My wife and I had our honeymoon in Crete in the summer of 2023. Maybe the second day we were in Chania roaming around, we were arrested by the sight of multiple Belgian beer signs on the street. I took a picture of the establishment sign because it was closed at that moment, but we were determined to come back and have a beer! Almost two weeks later, maybe a couple of days before we were set to leave, to my incredible delight, we had finally wandered onto the patio of this mysterious spot, and Rudy immediately seated us. When asked what we would like, upon answering "Two Chimays", this man immediately lit up, and begins to tell me that HE HAS CHIMAY ON TAP. Let me repeat: CHIMAY ON TAP!!!!!! This is not a statement to take lightly, especially as an American; you will find no such thing here. At least in my local. We have travelled a great deal and never encountered an opportunity like that. I think we had three each, all told, and Rudy had joined us for conversation throughout. I eagerly photographed his cats. This is one of the most supreme experiences I have ever had. It really added to the enchantment of the island, in its myriad of ways. So, obviously, I had a good time, and I will never forget it! We will return, someday, and this is definitely one of the highest priorities! Live long,...
Read moreMy wife and I kept walking by this place in the afternoons and would look through the window in the door and say, "It looks like a pretty good place, but it never seems to be open." We googled it and found out the hours are from 1800 to 0200, so we went one night. We were not disappointed. We started off with a Xarma Pale Ale on tap and then switched to Belgian beers from the tap. They were very good and we also split the small sausage plate - excellent sausage with very good Senf/Mustard. The small sausage plate was enough for two people - it also came with potato salad, some tomato slices and some cucumber slices. If you like beer, you need to visit this place when...
Read moreTo balance other reviews - it would otherwise be around 3 stars. The beer selection is nice and so is the “garden”, but the service is terrible. Guy at bar seemed nice, but lady serving in the garden was absolute inattentive, bored and completely ignoring us after serving us first beer (out of which she was not able to properly pour one out of bottle). She spent most of the time standing at bar with her back to the garden or talking to Greek customers. It was impossible to order second beer nor to ask for a bill and we had to go and pay at bar. What a shame.
Ok to visit if you are very patient and want to have Belgian beer. Otherwise just...
