Disappointing tourist trap, to be avoided.
Paid 70€ for 2 people to eat the most disappointing Cretan food I’ve ever had. Our dishes were almost 20€ each and were served with nothing but bland fries. No vegetables and no effort, something that would’ve been ok for a 14€ dish that could be enjoyed.
The breaded stuffed chicken my girlfriend ordered was dry, tasteless and drowned in a cream sauce like they were trying to cover up the crime they were committing. The lamb chops were good but nothing special (not worth 18€).
The 0.5L of wine cost 6€ and tasted like coloured water, but you could say you get what you pay for. The starters were ok (had much better elsewhere).
I brought up my disappointment to the waiter and requested a reduced price, after some back and forth the senior waiter threatened to call the tourist police, stating that 18€ for dry chicken and pre-prepped fries is how it’s done everywhere in the area (It’s not). I paid the bill in full and left feeling wronged.
There are much better places in Chania to enjoy good Cretan cuisine at a welcoming price. Mezedoscholeio is a 5 minute walk away where you’ll be served amazing dishes and not get robbed.
I’d like to end by saying I don’t have any issues with any of the waiters there, I respect that they’re just doing their job. But to who ever manages the place, it’s clear they just want to take as much as they can from you whilst returning as little as possible -...
Read moreIt is the dinner I was looking forward go during the trip but ended up being fiasco. I called the night before to make reservation as it was my last night in Crete and one of the restaurants I wanted to try as building is beautiful. I read fairly good reviews too. The person answering the phone told us, no worries we dont make reservations just come and we will find you a table. We showed up in the evening looked to be seated, there were quite few empty tables available and waiter told us to wait outside ad it is only 2 of us. We waited patiently for about q0 min he went out 2 times asking us if we spoke to him already and we said yes, we were r looking for table for 2. Meanwhile bigger groups were seated in front of us as tables could take 4. I still looked in and there were still many tables available that could sit 4 or 6 but thsy wouldn't take 2 of us. This really put us off from staying and waiting to eat here and we spent 16 days in Crete and this was the only place with such am experience. I normally dont write bad review. I like to share great experience for other people but if I was an owner I would like to hear back if something like this my guests experienced and correct for future. I hope the owner appreciates...

I informed the waiter discreetly that the meal I just had had made me so sick I was struggling to walk and even made me throw up. Rather than offering a glass of water or even a seat, the waiter gave us a refund in a handful of 10 and 20 cents.
As we were leaving the Owner came out and accosted My husband and me on the street while we stood with our 5 month old baby in a pram. She was aggressively yelling at us that she would call the police if we don’t leave ‘her’ street (?) as she’s from here and we’re not. And the racist quoted line above was to my black husband!
Quality of the food aside, this only proves that guests are considered nothing but pots of money as there was no consideration of my wellbeing and only unwarranted aggression and blatant racism from the Owner.
Fortunately a stranger did offer assistance, showing there are are still good people around although the owner of this restaurant certainly...
