We came to Chania excited to explore its reputation for authentic and high-quality food. Unfortunately, this restaurant was a huge letdown and left us feeling frustrated and disappointed.
When we arrived without a reservation (as many tourists do), the waiter reluctantly seated me and my two sons at an outside table. He made a remark suggesting we were lucky to be accommodated — even though there were clearly many empty tables. The setting itself was charming and romantic, which initially gave us hope.
The menu was difficult to understand, and the waiter offered no assistance or recommendations. My youngest ordered spaghetti Napolitana, playing it safe. My other son ended up with a vegetarian baked tart — though the description was unclear — and I chose the octopus, curious to try something local.
When the food arrived, the presentation was shockingly poor. The spaghetti was just plain pasta with tomato sauce — something a child could have cooked better. The vegetarian tart was simply a block on a plate, with no garnish or care. My octopus came with nothing but a pile of fries and looked completely unappetizing. No creativity, no flavor — just bland and basic. It felt like no effort was made at all.
The service didn’t improve. When I asked for the bill, the waiter tossed the receipt on the table without a word and walked away. I asked twice to pay by card, but no one returned. We ended up wasting precious time just trying to pay, eventually going to the counter ourselves. The staff seemed annoyed we paid by card, and despite everything, they still expected a tip.
We paid over €40 for this disappointing experience. For a place in such a beautiful town known for good food, this was a complete waste of time and money. I genuinely felt robbed — poor food, poor service, and absolutely not worth it.

If I could go back in time and choose to eat a microwave burrito in a gas station bathroom instead of dining at this restaurant, I absolutely would—and that would still be a gourmet experience by comparison.
Let’s start with the wait. I’m not sure if I accidentally signed up for a pilgrimage rather than dinner, because we waited OVER AN HOUR just to be seated… in a half-empty restaurant. The host had the enthusiasm of a corpse and the organizational skills of a drunk raccoon. When we were finally shown to our table, it felt less like being welcomed to eat and more like being sentenced to a punishment.
Then came the food. And by “food,” I mean whatever that sad, flavorless, refrigerator-cold slop was. I wouldn’t serve it to my enemies. My meal tasted like it had been cooked during the Nixon administration and reheated under a desk lamp. I ordered pasta—what I got was a lukewarm tangle of rubber bands in a puddle of dishwater. My friend got a steak that could have doubled as a tire iron. It’s like the chef actively resents human joy.
And the service? Oh boy. The waiter made it painfully clear that we were a massive inconvenience simply for existing. Every time we asked for something—water, a menu, the will to live—we were met with eye-rolls so intense I feared the waiter might sprain his sockets. I honestly began to wonder if this place was some sort of social experiment testing how long people will stay when treated like absolute garbage.
The whole experience was a culinary hostage situation.
To summarize: avoid this place like the plague. Actually, with the plague, at least you’d get a little fever and lose your...
Read moreI came here for my birthday because google said it was the best food in Chania but google was wrong! The Greek salad was the worst salad I’ve ever had in my life. No dressing, no olives, so dry—just skip it entirely. Our Moussaka was cold. They must pre make it and heat it up. Wasn’t even hot. The lamb chops were gamy but edible. But I always rate lamb on the gamy-ness so definitely wouldn’t order again. The only thing that was good was the beef stew in tomato sauce. And the free olive dip. On top of the food being a huge disappointment it was my birthday and the waiter was beyond rude to me. Said I was lying about my birthday. Brought the worst dry dessert out with no candle. I asked for a candle and he told me he didn’t have one. I just wanted to make a wish on my special day. Treating me like I was an annoyance ON MY BIRTHDAY when I was nothing but excited and polite and kind to him and spending money. My friend asked another waiter if they had a candle and he was so nice and said “we always give candles” and was so polite, so the first guy lied. He brought me to tears and made my birthday experience awful. Not to mention it was the most expensive dinner we’ve had in all of Greece. 5€ gyros were better than this place. Then the rude waiter had the audacity to ask for our instagram or what’s app. I couldn’t even look at him. I hate to leave negative reviews. I mainly only leave positive but the owner should know. Absolutely horrible experience. Thank you to the nice waiter who brought...
