🇬🇷 SUPERMARKET HAROTO 🏬

We have been living in the centre of Chania for a few months now, and keep gravitating back to Haroto. A multi-generational, family-run business, our favourite supermarket is right in the old Venetian Harbour ⛴️.

Both the owner and staff speak amazing English 🇬🇧 and are exceedingly helpful and service-minded. On top of the customary supermarket fare, Haroto carries a wide choice of artisanal local products, and if there is something you would like to order, they usually have it within a day. They are open 7 days a week, which makes life in the centre so much easier.

The shop does not charge a premium, despite being located right in the heart of Old Town, and should your dog happen come along to help you shop, they always have a delicious treat or dog biscuit ready 🐶🐾🐾🦴- full marks for that personal touch ❤️.

And, if you are in luck, there are always grandma’s 👵🏻 home baked 🇬🇷 cookies to make your day.

A genuine little gem. This is why we keep coming back....

⚠️Warning⚠️ do not buy wine or olive oil here. The good news is that this place is open on Sundays, a rarity in town. They also sell a good range of sugar-free and various other allergen-free food. The one star is because they also sell items that need a little TLC, wine and olive oil, which is not provided. Be warned, your wine may be corked, your olive oil rancid. The most egregious thing is that they refused to refund me, even when presented with the rotten corks and the bad bottles, and continue to sell the bottles I know to...

We went to shop in this supermarket two days in a row. In both occasions bought grapes and nectarines. On the first day the fruits were sold at different prices, 1.80€ and 2.40€correspondentes, being weighted separately. In the second day they were both weighted together and sold at 2.60€. When I questioned the employee I was informed that this was the correct price. I can’t simply confirm this is true or not because there are no prices displayed for fruit! Really felt fooled by this person....
