Secret Tastes — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

Secret Tastes is the best restaurant in Chania. This may sound dramatic to say, but after spending weeks eating all over Old Town and a few outlier locations, stumbling upon those place was a needed experience. Not that the foods elsewhere is unpleasant, but out just doesn't compare to Secret Tastes.

Kristos, our server, was incredibly helpful in navigating their menu that changes daily based on portion availability. We settled on a wonderful cabbage salad, rice stuffed peppers, and rabbit taken straight from the chef George's farm. Everything was perfectly prepared. And it was only ~€30!

As I'm here for a wedding, I decided to organize a dinner for the whole wedding party before they big day. After my first experience at Secret Tastes, there was no question where I would choose too eat. Kristos and George were incredible once again. They provided us a custom group experience for 10 with family style dining including salads, and dishes of pork with large beans, rooster, two lamb dishes on bone, a beef dish and a few others. They ended there meal with an ice cream desert and raki. At the end, George and Kristos came out to drink a raki with us and everyone was so impressed they cheered for him.

This place offers the warning experience you want while traveling but just can't seem to get in those dense...

TLDR; 6 star review, worth every single penny and minute! Goes to prove good food doesnt always have to cost a fortune and barely fill you up!

Me and my gf were strolling in town and were looking to get in touch with some local flavours and thats how we landed via Google Maps on Secret Tastes.

To be fair it was secretive about it location just like the name suggested but I was happy it was hidden so we could get a table without booking!

The food was waayyy beyond amazing and I would say one of the best meats i have eaten during my this trip in Greece. I stuck with the reliable chicken and was amazed with how juicy it was and how it slid right off the bone. The Taziki was very creamy and smooth, I would have never eaten the 🍦 if knew it what it was but wow! (Ask what in it just when you have tried it!) It was really amazing. They also have great vegetarian choices so dont shy away to try something new!!

The service was great and the wonderful lady was kind, helpful and patient while explaining the dishes to idiots like us..

I am sorry my photos dont do justice to the food but atleast I tried! I was very content and so was my partner + we left happier than we came in! Thank you...

Unfortunately it doesn't match at all the reviews he got. We went there because we thought we could find the typical greek cuisine, but the food was gross and the boureki (9€) my gf ordered was 100% frozen, because when it came at the table it was really tasteless, soggy and with an unpleasant aftertaste. The spicy meatballs were alright, even though I didn't digest them very well in the evening, and 14€ was probably a bit overpriced, for that plate, in my opinion. The only good and fresh thing was actually the "eggplant salad" (6.50€), very pleasant, unfortunately it is the only positive note.

However, the waiter was nice, the service too, and he offered us ice cream for free.

Also, another thing I hate, is that it was not possible to pay with card because yesterday the pos was not working. Idk if that's something that usually happens, but it happened to us.

Overall I can't understand how this place has such high reviews, because unfortunately we didn't leave satisfied at all. I hope you can improve...
