SAMA — Restaurant in Municipality of Eastern Samos

Pythagoreio in Samos has plenty of old-fashioned restaurants and taverns. So, a change is always welcome. Sama is a new entry with high promises. However, the distance from expectations to real high standards related to the extremely high prices for an area like Pythagoreio is long and not so easy to achieve. We visited Sama with my wife without any reservation. The welcome was warm, and the staff easily found us a lovely table to sit at. The music was also great, and it matched perfectly for a dinner experience. The problems came when the time to order arrived. The majority of the fish dishes were either frozen or came from a fish farm, something unacceptable for a restaurant of such high expectations and prices. Even worse, all the old-fashioned taverns near Sama offered fresh fish dishes at a lower price. Finally we ordered a plain burger, which came absolutely plain without any side , as well as a risotto and a vegetable salad. The salad was good enough and the plain burgers were fine. However, the risotto with Buffalo cheese was a great disappointment. We also ordered two glasses of white wine, which came at room temperature.So it was not a great tasting experience, made worse by the expectations and the high prices of the dishes. I think that restaurants like Sama are needed in Samos, but good intentions are not enough. They have to invest first of all in their kitchen, and then the success will come. The best word to describe this place is mediocre, everything is a bit blunt / the manager who greeted us initially was very nice and attentive ( hence my two stars)- the rest I wouldn’t even give one star - the food was meh and the Service was really bad , our waitress was very slow and had attitude, I asked for an extra order of bread and when we didn’t get it after almost 30 minutes I asked her about it she literally told me “ well I don’t make the bread” - then told my friend when he asked why was the food delayed for over 45 minutes that there was a miscommunication in the kitchen/ she blamed everyone else - maybe she can benefit from some education about service Save the money as the island has so many more places with delicious food and...

Really good atmosphere with a talented dj. Nevertheless, the food was disappointing. We ordered half a chicken, and it was undercooked. The spaghetti vongole was plain and basic (and we're pretty sure it contained cheese, which it shouldn't). The meat did not come accompanied by a side, and you'd expect that the price you're paying would contain a side. The lamb chops were amazing, and the grilled vegetables (that we had to order extra) were also delicious. In general, the plates felt incomplete and lacking.

I do not recommend this place, even though through the exterior it looks pleasing, they lack diversity in the menu, pleasing food quality and a decent service. The only good thing about this place was the ambience and...
