Papi Caffe — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

Where to start? Or, better for the weary traveller hunting breakfast near the park, where to end. Some months or years ago I wrote a magazine review, very positively, about this eatery attached to Legacy Gastro Suites. What happened between then and now is anyone's guess. Given the quality of the breakfast I choked down today, I'd say cost cutting and a cook change could be it.

The bottom line is, whoever cooked my sunny side up eggs and near burnt toast this morning, has no place in a kitchen except for dishwashing. Sunny side up cooked on the surface of Venus - maybe. Okay, enough harping on what eggs should be. The un-bussed table across from me, the dead flower in the little pot on the table, and being serve half a glass of water (tap water I think) instead of a bottle - Well, you get the picture. The only reason this once popular restaurant gets two stars is because the waitress remembered the names of everyone in our family (from a place she used to work).

Oh, before I leave off, I was the second customer, and there were only 3 tables dining (2 persons each) by the time I left. So, cooking eggs to West Africa Harmattan DONE was all the more horrific. Thank goodness the cappuccino (Jacobs not Colombia Finca Sofia Dark Roast) was there, or I might have needed the Heimlich maneuver. Google eggs sunny side up or over easy, hit "images" and see if there is anything resembling this.

Δυστυχώς επισκέφτηκαμε το εστιατόριο και φύγαμε πολύ δυσαρεστημένοι.Η σαλάτα και το ορεκτικό ήρθαν στην ώρα τους και ήταν αξιοπρεπή. Ακολούθησε ένα ωραίο ριζότο μανιταριών. Τα κυρίως έκαναν πάνω από μία ώρα και 20 λεπτά να εμφανιστούν χωρίς στο ενδιάμεσο να έχουμε καμία ενημέρωση για κάποια καθυστέρηση. Ο σερβιτόρος μόνο ήρθε για να μας ρωτήσει αν θα θέλαμε να παραγγείλουμε κι άλλο κρασί. Όταν παραπονεθηκαμε ο σερβιτόρος μας είπε ότι στα δύο κυρίως έχει γίνει κάποιο λάθος και αν θα θέλαμε να τα αλλάξουμε! Όταν ζητήσαμε τον υπεύθυνο εμφανίστηκε ένας κύριος ο οποίος διαρκώς έλεγε έχετε δίκιο συγνώμη και επικαλέστηκε φόρτο εργασίας παρόλο που ειμασταν το πρώτο τραπέζι που έκατσε στο μαγαζί, χωρίς ποτέ να μας δώσει κάποια εξηγηση.Τελικά μας κερασαν το κρασί και φύγαμε μετά από 2μιση ώρες έχοντας τσιμπήσει ότι κατάφερε να έρθει στο τραπέζι.
