We visited this restaurant (if you can call it that) because we were very hungry for a kotogyro (pita with chicken gyros). The reviews of this restaurant were good. Unfortunately, we experienced the opposite.
What we got was a sandwich that cannot be considered a pita gyros. The pieces of chicken were not comparable, it looked more like manufactured and tough chicken. Besides that, it had 1 slice of tomato, yoghurt on it instead of tzaziki. That is not really usual. That was all there was to it. When we pointed this out to the waiters, because we specifically asked for tzaziki, they asked us: "where are you from?", and then we were told that we probably do not know how a pita gyros should taste, not knowing that we were Greek but raised in another country (which should not even be relevant). Then we were told that this is how they make the pita gyros, but the moment you indicate that you want adjustments, these cannot be taken care of by the staff.
Good food and good service is unfortunately not the case here. Overall a bad experience. I would advise not to visit if you're in for a...
Read moreWhen you are out and about abroad, look for where the locals eat is always good advice. Thraka serves very reasonably priced Cretan / Greek fast food. Gyros and a Mythos, you’ve got it. A hollowed half loaf of bread filled with Chicken, that is finger licking good. A cheeky bit of cake and Ouzo on the house with the bill, of course I’m loving it. Service was friendly and efficient, with full table service. We were offered a choice of table, drinks were delivered whilst we were waiting for our food which arrived in quick time and was fresh and hot. This is not some tourist trap with inflated prices, we paid 28 Euro, (£24 at the prevailing rate) for 3 filling meals with a Mythos beer, two soft drinks and a bottle of water. You’d struggle to eat as well for that price at one of the global food brands and why would you want to when the local food...
Read moreExcellent choice to go to after visiting the archeological museum. We did enjoy the service and the beef skewers portion and the chicken gyros portion. The meat is succulent and it doesn't taste sad. There weren't burnt or uncooked pieces. The potatoes were good and not overdone or too salty. I do recommend the soft delicious pita. Be patient with the tomatoes if it's not in season. I did love the staff who did their best despite having most of their tables taken as it was crowded. We were lucky to go there with an empty stomach and we left with the impression that we might come back if other places are insanely expensive as they have other options as well, such as pizza, fish or some traditional Greek dishes among...
