I’m giving a 4 out of 5 because my fellow diners enjoyed the food. However being vegan, we did not have the same experience. Actually I was rather frustrated. They served me an Amuse Bouche with octopus when I’ve clearly asked and ordered from the vegan menu. Any ethical vegan understands that whether you eat the animal or not, once it hits the table, damage is done and the contribution to animals death is done. I kindly told the waiter before it hit the table to take it back and serve it elsewhere and he did. Great. However free dessert came and again it was chocolate and cream and he served me something non vegan AGAIN. This time I wasn’t quick enough and someone from my party ate it which angered me no end. If we are eating Vegan, don’t bring us non vegan food, especially not TWICE!! In addition there is a vegan menu, great, thanks for thinking of us, however it lacks much thought or effort. Onion rings, spring rolls and a pasta with plain tomato sauce? You can’t add some eggplants or onion or zucchini or anything else to the pasta? I saw the other food with all its splendor coming out and I felt hugely annoyed. If you’re going to put out a vegan menu and take our money, please at least try. We are not the plebs of the earth, we are just people who don’t choose to kill to eat. Life would be so much easier as soon as restaurants understand this and stop their incredibly heavy reliance on serving animals. Also please consider yourself lucky that I was kind enough to give no less than 4 stars, because for me it was truly around a 2.5 experience for me, but I didn’t want to lower your google score due to me being a minority. On a plus note the restaurant has a beautiful view and the bar...
Read moreFood: My wife had the skioufikta, I had the rib eye, and we shared the fish croquettes.
The fish croquettes were served on top of a pesto based sauce with crisped kale. The sauce complimented the croquettes well and the greens offered a nice texture.
The skioufikta pasta had a deep mushroom flavor, a creamy texture, and tender bites of beef.
The rib eye was ordered medium rare cut into slices and sprinkled with salt and pepper. The steak itself was good, but the meat was cooked slightly uneven. The sides that accompanied the meat was a semi sliced potato served with a mushroom based ketchup. Usually regular ketchup can overpower the flavor of the potato, but this version did just enough to add flavor without over doing it.
Service: Top notch service. Our server was friendly, attentive, ensured our water + wine glasses were full, helpful wine recommendations, and ensured every request we had was met swiftly.
Atmosphere: The restaurant was situated on the top floor overlooking the square below and held outstanding views of the port and surrounding city.
Overall would highly recommend to anyone visiting Heraklion. The vibe is classy and the prices are more...
Read moreNtoré Gastronomy is situated on the 5th floor, accessible via somewhat shady lifts that take you to a rooftop terrace offering stunning views of the city and harbor. We visited around sunset, allowing us to enjoy the scenery in both daylight and twilight.
We started our evening with a delightful bottle of rosé, which we enjoyed so much that we ordered another later in the evening. The staff, led by the charming and professional Thomas, were exceptional. Thomas's sense of humor and evident passion for his job added to the delightful experience. The culinary artistry was evident from the start, with an appetizer of shrimp tartar on a gingerbread cookie that even our 9-year-old daughter loved. Although we skipped starters due to our moderate hunger, the main courses were a hit for everyone but me—the mushroom risotto was a solid 7.2/10, while the other dishes were perfect 10s.
Overall, I highly recommend Ntoré Gastronomy. The combination of atmosphere, music, food, and outstanding staff created a memorable dining experience. Thank you for a...
