To Steki tou Pipi — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

We ate here the night before we flew home, and I am glad we did. Everything was great, and I wish I could get the chicken recipe.

This is a local neighborhood restaurant that was great and not a downtown tourist trap. We showed up a little early and the parents do not really speak English, but we were still able to order everything we wanted. Their daughter showed up a little later that spoke English before we left that was nice to talk with.

This place is owned and operated by wonderful people who make you feel as if you are a part of their family. And the food is great! I had roast pork from the oven and my wife had a beautiful salad of cucumbers, tomatoes, fresh feta, and olives, more than enough for both of us. Simple, authentic, and excellent! There was no menu and the lady didn't speak English. She offered only what she had. We ate cold low quality dolmades and it was the first time ever I didn't like them. She brought us two burgers without absolutely anything else in the plate. Unfortunately, it was the saddest dinner experience in Crete. In all Greek Islands we visited these years the food was always really good, except for this time.
