Authentic as it gets. Stick to the classics and fall into the symphony of the setting and service. Expect a few discordant notes on behalf of the waiters, but be assured that's nothing more than some tough love inspired by the philosophies of the owner Alecko - a man who embodies the strong and silent type.

Once you win him over, he's willing to move mountains and was generous enough to provide us a home made cheesecake on the house. In fact, I'm fairly sure he'd be willing to take up arms to ensure my dining experience was to a high standard, fending off gaggles of loud insufferable Americans looking to loosen the local charm that spellbound's the place.

The first meal I had where body, gut, mind and spirit were aligned effortlessly. I'll be back and plan to spend my 60th weekend there with friends and family. A vision bestowed upon me after eating one of their fried red mullet fish heads. Eat the lamb if dietaries allow. And the eggplant...

This is the first google restaurant review I have ever written, feeling compelled to do so due to the consistent excellent dining experiences my friends and I have had at Kodylenias over the past week. Don't listen to the naysayers. We keep going back, and for good reason. The food is excellent - its a typical taverna, so make sure to order some fresh fish, the lamb, a greek salad and some bread and dips. Keep it simple, and you will reap the benefits. Yes, the tall waiter takes a while to warm up to people - it took us until our third visit to get a smile - but that's all part of the charm of this place. The food comes when its ready, leading to a fantastic rolling dining experience that will leave you sad because its over, and with a bill that always seems remarkably cheap for the quality of the meal. The place has a beautiful view but in terms of service we had an awful experience . The staff was unfriendly and rude . The pork we ordered was chewy and when the waiter asked us how the food was and we told him about this issue he just shrugged and said it’s pork it’s supposed to be chewy . Also they ripped us off they charged separately for the sides which should have been included in the price of the main dishes also they charged us for the bread which is always complimentary in other restaurants . We paid the most in this restaurant during our stay on Hydra and the service was terrible , the food was average or worse and the whole experience left a bitter taste in our mouths .
