Behind the façade of a Greek small family-owned restaurant, you will find unsmiling, inhuman, nervous, impolite if not very rude owners, who only run after the money and treat the clients as numbers.
We had booked during the morning for lunch at 3:15 p.m. with the daughter of the owners who works with her parents. We presented ourselves at 3:00 p.m. and the father sat us down at a table. Not event a minute later, the daughter rushed towards us and asked us in an almost aggressive tone as if we had committed a crime: "get up, this is not your table, your turn is at 3:15 p.m. and you have to wait" whereas we had only followed very quietly her father's instruction. Not a word of politeness, not even for the sake of it from the daughter and her father.
We walked away and came back at 3:22 p.m. and the daughter said to us "there are no more free tables, you were supposed to come at 3:15 p.m." We replied that we are not machines and, when we began to calmly highlight their rude attitude, we received as a reaction an agitation and responses of nervousness and again aggressive, culminating with the father giving us a "get out" and almost grabbing us by the arm.
We have been visiting Greece for more 30 years and two of us are Greek citizens living abroad, but it is sad and so regretful to see how some Greek people and their attitude have changed for the worse and that they have lost their kindness, generosity and authenticity of before, especially in so-called tourist areas. People like the owners of the restaurant To Pefkaki best illustrate this very sad...
Read moreFood is superb and comes really fast. We had three seafood dishes and a dip and they are all amazing - the char on the grilled sardine adds so much flavour / depth, and the calamari tastes “refreshing”(!) and not oily at all, also recommend the herring dip. We didn’t get any salad but they looked amazing
View and ambience is perfect - small cosy cliff-side restaurant with amazing view. It does get quite busy so make reservations esp if you’d like seats with a view.
Service is really good and friendly. It is a busy small restaurant ran by just two so things can take a little longer but on the plus side, no one will rush you enjoying the food or taking in the views.
Pricing is slightly higher than expected but much much better value for money and better experience than upscale restaurants on the island.
Overall, it was great and we will definitely...
Read morewaited for 40 min in line for a table at 3pm, a table close to the sea got free and I was first in line. I asked two times to sit there and they ignored me until another table close to the street got free. While we were going there, I asked again if I can sit at the first table and the waitress told me that this table is reserved. After a while, two girl randomly came and sat there. Re asked the waitress and she told me “you cannot chose the table, you wanna leave?”. I obviously left and restaurants with this attitude and rudeness (they might have thought that 1 person spends less than 2 so I deserve the worst table despite waiting for 40 min) deserve not to have customers....
