Our last night in Hydra ended up being the best dinner of the trip. It started with warm homemade bread and dill butter—honestly, best decision ever. The bread was perfect, the butter fragrant and mouthwatering. And that was just the beginning.
Then came the pasta with lemon and langoustine. Now, I’m Italian, so I feel fully entitled to judge pasta—and I can honestly say this was one of the best I’ve had outside Italy. The spaghettoni were cooked to perfection, the lemon sauce creamy but bright with acidity, and the langoustine tartare on top? A perfect match, like a wedding that actually works.
The chicken breast surprised us even more. Normally, what do you expect from chicken breast? Here it was juicy, crispy outside, served with a gorgeous demi-glace and roasted salad leaves so delicious we wanted a whole plate of them.
Dessert looked classic—choux with pistachio sauce and chocolate ganache—but won us over with its balance. Rich, yes, but not too sweet, and all the better for it.
Excited, satisfied, and a little sad to leave, we couldn’t have asked for a better...
Read moreThe overall dining experience was pleasant, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations, especially considering the above-average pricing. While most of the dishes were fairly tasty, they lacked that extra spark or finesse that would truly justify the cost.
The dish featuring lemon and crayfish had a rather mild flavor and felt somewhat underwhelming, while the “briam with gyoza” didn’t quite work — the flavors didn’t harmonize, and the eggplant left a slightly sour aftertaste.
Additionally, the home wine selection was somewhat disappointing; the wine we tried lacked character and didn’t complement the meal as well as expected.
There’s definitely potential here, but the execution — both in food and drink — needs more attention and refinement. With bolder flavors and more thoughtful pairings, the experience could become truly memorable.
No complaints for the service though, they were pleasant, friendly and accepted our - wellbeing intended critique without...
Read moreLooks nice but it doesn’t live up to the image. Food was sub par and didn’t taste as if they tried to put any flavour into it. The Greek salad they offer is just tomatoes and a tomato sauce, the amberjack carpaccio was the only semi-decent thing we tried and even then it wasn’t amazing and the fries they offer are more like diced potatoes. The Cacio e pepe tasted like basic pasta boiled with a cheap cheese sauce poured on top and when I asked for the “deconstructed” pastitsio to be taken off of the bill (because it truly tasted like boiled pasta and raw béchamel) they told me it’s not their policy and had to pay the full amount even after having to argue my case with several waiters and being told they only send things back if they are burnt by the chef. Would never go back and I hope no one wastes their money in the first place, would give zero stars...
