Isalos Cafe — Restaurant in Municipality of Hydra

For 19€ , I expected fresh butter in the breakfast assortment, not butter in plastic cups. I’m disappointed that they included what tasted like store bought bread that had been kneaded flat too. The whole thing was worth half of what I paid. I’ve bought the same breakfast for less than half of what I paid at other islands (ex. Poros) so perhaps the pricing is based on the popularity of Hydra and that tourists will pay. The same order on a menu from earlier in the year was 16 euros.

While the seaside cafe is by the sea, you won’t be guaranteed a good view. I faced the streets with tourists and horses up and down the road. The coffee was delicious and the orange juice is definitely fresh and fairly priced. The jam and honey were in specialty glass containers suggesting they were local - definitely tasty. The sesame bread roll and whole wheat bread rolls were delicious. The croissant was just too much, like I didn’t expect an entire platter of bread. If you’re thinking of doing a continental breakfast - don’t. Order something else, or a La crate. because you can make it yourself for way less and it’s just too much bread. Picked this because it has really good views and a wide range of menu. Service was a little slow since there was only 1 waiter. Fresh squeezed orange juice was so sweet!
