Every summer for the last 15 years I visit Paleochora for 3-4 weeks. As a foodie I like to try different restaurants that somehow attract me. How can a restaurant attract somebody? Some of the known standards are: good food ( read a review or by the word of mouth); the looks or ambience; other patrons who go there look cool, etc. This restaurant never attracted me because of the looks and because it belongs to the BS area, (BS or Below Scala cafe) Everytime I tried Restaurant in the BS, it was a disappointment.(Karavelas and Methexis to name a few). Crocodile is known for its meat (steakhouse ). My wife is mostly vegetarian. But after 15 years of Paleochora, we decided to go there for 2 reasons: my daughter really craved a good steak and because my new Italian beach friend Angelo recommended it. Well the old BS curse was correct. Disappointment. We ordered the most expensive steak on the menu. Ribeye steak for 24 Euros. Ribeye steaks are supposed to be a bit fatty. This steak was mostly fat. It was cooked property as medium-rare but you can't enjoy a medium-rare fat. The avocado-shrimp salad proved that Greeks have a long way to go to master Mexican-like tastes. The luck of lime or lemon was obvious. The French fries were pre-fried and their round shapes did not add to the taste. Their mixed salad (anamikti) was without personality. In order to save the night I asked for their wild mushroom salad and finally my wife gave me a Mona-Lisa kind of smile. The local wine was Ok. I was not in a mood to complain and ruin the beautiful night but mysteriously the waiters insisted to say something. The owner could not believe that I was not happy with the steak. Strangely enough, I decided to go back to this place. Next time I'll try the local steaks or ribs that are half priced and looked delicious. I want to prove that BS is just a myth and my friend Angelo from Turin is not wrong. Cheats...

Friendly and attentive service ( not rushed ) was just perfect for us . This was coupled with the food being Brilliant - The Aubergine ( Imam ) starter was simply top notch . We followed with the superb pork medallions and a Delicious aged cut of Tagliata (with chimichurri on the side ) .
A lovely bottle of Malagousia accompanied the food and our evening was complete .
Highly recommended and we will be hopefully be able to return ( Snappily !) prior to the season close .
