On The Rocks — Hotel in Municipality of Kantanos-Selinon

My parents and I stayed here for 9 nights in early July 2021 and had a good time. The location is different from a lot of hotels, being in the south-eastern corner so a bit further from the big town beach but close to several tavernas and cafes.||||Staff were very friendly, though the lady who worked in the mornings and served us breakfast seemed much nicer than the lady in the afternoons. The hotel was fairly quiet during our stay, I think there were maybe only 3 or 4 other rooms taken.||||The rooms are a reasonable size, neither massive nor tiny, likewise the bathrooms are functional rather than luxurious. My room seemed to have rather noisy air conditioning that was prone to loud clicks and whirrs at random points during the night - I intended to mention it to the staff but it never got so bad as to seem worth bringing it up. My parent's room didn't have this issue.||||Breakfast was decent, with a typical selection of hot and cold items, many of the hot items were cooked to order, though this may be only due to the lack of other guests.||||In terms of cost, it's a more expensive hotel than I've been in since (I am travelling Greece for 3 months) so I haven't given 5 stars because with hindsight it seems a touch expensive for what is neither a luxury or budget hotel. Obviously many people love this hotel, but it wasn’t for me. The staff were very helpful, and breakfast was good, but the room let the place down.||||The frontage and reception area have been renovated very well. But the rooms are not great. Even though it had a balcony overlooking the sea, our twin room was still dark and poky. There wasn’t room for two people to pass by the bottom of the bed at the same time …. and the bathroom was dark and tiny. I had an obligatory shower each day in the little cubicle, and couldn’t wait to get out.||||The dark wooden door to the balcony was really stiff. We initially couldn’t work out how to open it. A member of staff demonstrated that it was with brute force! Then we found it impossible to lock the room door. Again, force was needed to lift the door up and to the side to make the key turn. Just so much hassle that we could have done without. ||||The balcony got the morning sun, so was in shadow during the evening. The really cheap furniture and the proximity to the next rooms’ balconies made it uninviting. There was a washing line, but no pegs, so with the strong meltemi wind, I lost my best pair of walking shorts … they’re probably halfway to Libya.||||All in all, not a great experience. Pour le cinquième séjour à Paleochora, mon choix s'est porté sur "on the rocks", je souhaitais un hôtel classique, petit déjeuner inclus et une suite standard, avec mini salon pour se sentir à l'aise. ||||L'hôtel est situé à 200 mètres de l'embarcadère du principal Ferry de Paleochora, pas loin du centre ville, l'emplacement est idéal et la vue imprenable sur la mer et les flans de montagnes, le soir vous êtes envahis par un léger sirocco, venant du continent africain, l'endroit est paisible le soir, même en journée et vous n'avez aucun problème pour vous garer. ||||La vue des fils électriques sur le balcon, gâchent un peu la vue, mais leur présence n'est pas imputable à l'hôtel, c'est très courant en Crète sans jeux de mots. Ils ne vous empêcheront pas de voir de beaux couchers de soleil, les quelques pêcheurs du soir ou le retour du ferry d' Elafonissi.||||Le coin terrasse avec les grands fauteuils en bas du bâtiment vous offre, une tranquillité et un calme olympien le soir, et le grand rocher qui trône au dessus l'hôtel, vous protège de la chaleur pendant la journée, derrière l'hôtel. ||||Je m'y sens bien dans cet hôtel, comme chez moi, le personnel est à la fois discret, mais très présent quand vous les sollicitez pour un problème lié à votre chambre, des conseils et des informations sur la région, ils sont gentils, serviables et souvent doux, pour les filles. ||||Le petit déjeuner est très bon et copieux, servis entre 7h30 et 10h30- j'ai évité de venir à 10h28, ce n'est pas correct pour le service, vous pouvez le prendre en terrasse ou à l'intérieur. ||||L'hôtel est très propre, la literie est excellente, les chambres sont faites tous les jours, il n'est pas à mon avis, nécessaire de changer les draps ou les serviettes tous les jours, en toute bonne fin avec une petite équipe hôtelière, l'hôtel est capable d'offrir d'excellentes prestations, et de donner pleine satisfaction à leur clients, avec lesquels j'ai pu échanger, mes impressions en retour d'expériences, pendant mon séjour. ||||Je mettrais tout de même un bémol pour la salle de bains, la sortie de douche est mal conçue. ||||Le séjour de 10 nuits a été excellent, grâce à la qualité du service fournis, et à la gentillesse et la douceur du personnel, j'espère revenir la prochaine fois à plusieurs et utiliser la grande suite, au dernier étage, je recommande vivement...
