Absolute worse restaurant experience in my long history of coming to Kos. I knew this was a “tourist trap” before sitting down, but we were hungry and there were tables available (mistake 1). We ordered our food. We are Greek and fluent in the language so there shouldn’t be any communication issues. We were sadly mistaken. They brought out a more expensive mix grill platter instead. We were hungry so we just accepted it (mistake 2). I’ve ordered mixed grills before at other restaurants but this was hardly average at best. My daughter ordered a margarita pizza which was just a plain cheese pizza. I’ve had better frozen pizza before from the grocery store. I asked the waiter to box up the leftovers. When it was time to leave, the leftovers went missing and he blamed someone else. We complained about this and were ignored. I found the owner and he shunned me as well. The waiter said that they would make us some food to take back with us but they purposely took over a half hour to make it hoping we would just pay and leave without it. We weren’t going to eat it anyways but we waited for it so we had some food to feed the cats. There are so many better and less expensive restaurants in Kos that care about their customers to eat at. This is NOT...
Read moreAfter a long day trip we arrived back into Kos town, hot and hungry! We wandered for a bit and finally sat down in the shade of the ancient agora and had a look at restaurants nearby. We found Iassos, and decided it was perfect for what we wanted! We were greeted by a friendly lady and she said we could sit where we wanted. We chose a table, overlooking the ancient agora which was a lovely setting.
We were originally going to have a bottle of Retsina wine, but the owner / manager upsold us to a local Kos wine, which it while more expensive, was really lovely. We decided to have a selection of starters to share, rather than main meals, and the restaurant was fine with this. Everything was delicious - the fried feta in particular was to die for! Service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant brought us a huge plate of watermelon to finish our meal - on the house. We thought that was a nice touch and it turned out to be a lovely anniversary dinner for us :) I recommend you visit Iassos when in Kos town, it’s less touristy than other places and the location in a little back street overlooking the agora provided a lovely...
Read moreWe have visited the restaurant today for the dinner. At first sight it looked nice and was busy so we thought it may be nice for family meal out however it has distroyed our evening. We waited 1 hr and 15 minutes for food to be served and when it finally arrived we were really disappointed. Spaghetti carbonara was average and seafood platter for two was less than average. To be fair I think it was fresh however it should be called fish platter as you get two fishes and literally two prawns, about 6 pieces of calamari, 4 sardines and few mussels. They serve little sauce with the food (this was tasty) but no lemon, no single bit of veg or any slices of baguette or bread to eat this with. One of us had Greek plate (sample of 5 traditional Greek food) and this...
