MOM'S KITCHEN — Restaurant in Municipality of Kos

All of us have had generic "Greek" food = it's decent. But in Greece, generic won't cut it (unless they are selling the view and preying on tourists). I wanted some good Greek, but homestyle, not restaurant fancy. Mom's kitchen delivered the goods. At the far end of an ivy-covered pedestrian street, we had to run a gauntlet of restaurant ropers steering us to tables and distracting us with compliments and special offers. I wanted to ask one guy, "Do you ever read your own reviews?"

At the end is a smallish place with two awesome servers, and THE real Mom in the back along with one helper. These 4 people make it all happen, from welcoming you as family, providing priceless local information, and getting you set up in comfort at a table. And the food! We stayed in Kos a week and ate there no less than 4 times. Twice for breakfast (they open at 10AM), Once for Gyros, Once for dinner - on my birthday. Stunning home-made home style Greek food. Souvlaki, Moussaka, salad, dessert, wine, coffee, everything perfect. When the people have passion, it shows up everywhere, and Mom's Kitchen always delivered for us! Mom’s Kitchen is an absolute gem on the island. They serve a wide range of vegan dishes, and although I wanted to start small, I went for the vegan toast and a watermelon beast juice. Both were fresh, flavourful and so satisfying, and it left me excited to come back and try more of their options.

What truly sets this place apart is the people. Georgia, one of the girls working there, is vegan herself and could not have been kinder. She shared tips on where to find other vegan spots on the island and even offered to store any vegan products I might buy at the supermarket in their shop. That kind of warmth and care goes beyond customer service, it creates a real connection, and I know I will never forget her.
