Old River taverne — Restaurant in Municipality of Kos

• • here are 5 more stars, because this place deserves 10. We tried quite a few restaurants, including the 3 island trip to try food at different places, and NO restaurant even reaches Old River up to the ankles.

The cooks must be world class, because the foods they make is of the utmost quality - being a lover of different foods, i had a BLAST at Old river.

The grilled octopus is simply amazing. It has all the tastes that just perfectly mixes as you eat it. On the contrary, i had probably the worst Octopus in Italy, but this was on the whole other end of the scale.

The mix grill is also sublime - the lamb, chicken, pork all taste different from each other, and make a really lovely meal. Eat it with salad, bread and feta!

The grilled sardines were also oh-so-awesome, crispy, easy to eat and tasty.

We tried other foods as well - all of it was 10/10 They have tapped beer of typical quality, which they also serve on the beach!

Baklava - the honey RUNS from it as you eat it.

The service is really nice, the waiters are really humble, nice and honest. They talk nicely, and i just felt a mutual respect between us. The owner, Josef is an incredible man who we had some good laughs with.

You cannot go wrong with this place! You can feel the cooks passion for food all the way from the kitchen onto your food plate.

l do not agree with reviews and can not understand the positive notes. Yes, you can eat here for affordable price but it was very much cheaped on quality of products: as a starter l took nicoise salat and as a dressing was taken mayonese. It is sad not to get good quality of olive oil on greek island and not prepare authentic dressing for nicoise salat. Without right dressing, instead of purle onion, the used cooking onion tasted even more sharp and bitter. As main course - grilled sardines were served on still mudy salat leafe and by served salat was mudy as well. There are plenty of good restaurant around, the island is...

Went to this restaurant because Toula that was our jet2holidays agent recommended. We want to try 🇬🇷 food, as soon we arrived the owner Joseph catch us checking the menu and started interact with us asking which kind of food we looking for...so Greek food of course, invited us to seat and he was just the most perfect guest host I met.
