During my short, 5-day stay in Mykonos I have consumed more than 12 gyros (and counting!) - 10 at Leonidas, 1 at Souvlaki Story, and 1 at a place not even worth mentioning- and approximately 15 gyros total in Greece including those I purchased days before in Athens. Given my expertise, I feel qualified to say that Leonidas' gyro is the best in the country. Few have come close, especially one memorable gyro in Monastiraki Square, but King Leonidas simply cannot be dethroned. For only 4 euro, one can have this delectable pita flavor party, pork or chicken. It comes with delicious fries, a hefty scoop of tzatziki, and for 1 euro extra (and believe me when I say this is the best euro you'll ever spend), you can add a superb "spicy sauce," (believed to be paprika-based) which sets Leonidas' gryo apart from all other competitors. For those looking for something other than a gyro- which would be stupid- the menu at Leonidas is large and i've seen some tasty looking moussaka and slamming souvlaki come out from behind the same counter. Additionally, the staff is friendly and efficient, and I have even befriended one of the staff members. Although I believe he is slightly shocked by my excessive gyro consumption, he shows me gratitude for my loyalty and I have looked forward to our daily interactions. I plan on returning to Leonidas tomorrow and may even invite him out for a night with the lads (perhaps he may spill the beans on the secret spicy sauce formula!). But seriously, do yourself a favor and grab a gyro, or 12,...
Read moreWe had high hopes for this place. All the reviews stated how they have great food and for a fair price. Unfortunately this is a tourist trap. We ordered two standard takeaway gyros pita that were clearly priced at 4.80 euros on the sign out the front (see photo). The man serving us took our order and did not mention any difference to the price. We then got our order and to pay he took our card away from us pay waving so we were unable to see the total bill. He then put the receipt in the bottom of the bag as if to hide that he had overcharged us or to try and get away with it. Only as we were leaving we realised we had been overcharged thanks to our bank notifications. They had charged us 18 euros for two normal gyros pita. We went to him to say we think you’ve made a mistake. He then proceeded to say the large gyros pita cost more… but we never ordered large. He then continued to say takeaway is more expensive and that he had informed us of this. But again this was a lie.
It was very disappointing to be scammed by them and I showed them the photo of their price board out the front. The man then continued to yell at me, which is disgusting customer service. The gyros pita are clearly not a large size as per my photo and are also the worst we have had since being here. The meat was dry and there was no sauce in them. We were clearly the victim of a tourist scam here and I recommend being vigilant if you are paying for food here or even better… just...
Read moreThe best place to eat in Mykonos! We spent 4 days in Mykonos, and ended up coming here once a day for lunch or dinner. The place serves Gyros Pittas for a total of 5 euro only. We found it tasty, and in a great portion for value. Our regular was 1 Gyros pitta, 1 chicken pitta and 1 french fries extra, for a total of 15 euros only, and everything was just great. The place is located in the heat of Mykonos city (also called "Chora"), and it's a cool place to sit down for a few, have a bite, and enjoy the people passing by. The place has a bathroom for free, however the door doesn't have a lock, so just be alert 😉 The staff were always nice and provided our order within a few minutes, we never waited for more than 5 minutes for our order. The place only has 5 tables outside + 3 bar seats inside, but if you wait a few minutes you are sure to find a sitting spot as people change quickly. This place was crowned our favorite of the trip and we hope to eat there again on a future...
