I arrived to Negrita to find some beautiful scenery, great music, and a gorgeous view of the water from their terrace. We would’ve loved to stay at the bar and order a couple rounds of drinks but within 5 minutes after sitting we were told (mind you, just AFTER I had purchased two €18 euro cocktails from the bar) that we’d need to give up our seats for reservations for sunset. I tried the signature cocktail, and tbh it was great. However, it’s not listed in any recent Instagram posts or the website (where I could find) that reservations are needed or preferred - especially considering I was going on a random Tuesday. This was really unfortunate because we would’ve loved to stay longer but were treated pretty rudely from then on, being approached by two additional staff members in succession even though the first one had said we could stay until others arrive. I couldn’t help but wonder if it wasn’t that we didn’t appear to be big spenders (on a Tuesday!) or didn’t fit their “look” or something... but more transparency over needing a reservation, at least, upon arrival / before purchasing drinks would’ve made our evening more pleasant. Instead we enjoyed being patrons to the (free) side of the beach a bit further, facing Little Venice with an unobstructed view and found 3 euro drinks from the corner shop. Too bad but you’ve gotta make the best of it in these situations. I did my research and really looked forward to visiting - but I couldn’t find anywhere that said you must make reservations for this bar to enjoy its view at sunset from the deck outside. I also want to note that the water’s edge is highly trafficked by people walking to the other bars on either side, so honestly the waterside view and experience was pretty hectic with people taking photos and walking by constantly (even when we were there an hour before sunset). Other spots nearby have minimum spend (€40-55 where we enquired) but Negrita doesn’t, which is seemingly a plus... if you don’t mind sitting inside or somehow get a reservation. Finally, the red flowers from their stunning Instagram photos are seemingly artificial, just so you know. But you can find other (real) bright pink bougainvilleas just around the corner and sprinkled around the old town (as of July, at least). It’s rare for me to post a poor review, but I could not hold this back in good conscience for others visiting this beautiful place with an abundance of great spots to enjoy a beverage, have a great time, and witness a stunning sunset. I hope Negrita becomes more transparent, fast, and more clearly states the need for reservation at sunset because I can tell it has potential - but the way the staff handled this evening made it feel like a...
Read moreThis place is absolutely lovely during the day (before sunset) and that’s why I’m giving it three stars, but around sunset, it’s ridiculous behaviour from management. The girl that works there is lovely, but the guy/manager is horrible. We had been sat their since 6pm and had also been there earlier in the day for another round of drinks, and when I tried to order another at around 6:40, I was told I needed reservations... fine. I asked if we could finish our drinks and wait it out to see if anyone showed or not. They agreed. I also noted I wanted another drink if possible to sit (no point to order then be forced to chug a drink and leave). They moved us to another table between then and that wasn’t a problem. At around 730 I asked if I could order another drink now (sun sets at 740ish).. I was told it’s a €50 euro per person minimum for sunset. First time this was mentioned at all, had I been able to order when we actually wanted, we would’ve been easily on our way to that. To not mention until last minute is a bit ridiculous. Also, when you have customers sitting there and ordering (or trying to) why the hell would you deny them in hopes of reservations showing up? There’s so many no shows. Overall, super disappointed in this management here. The girl serving us in the evening and the guy during the day were both super...
Read moreUnfortunately a bad experience. I will say the hostess who welcomed us was nice and helpful. But the expectations of the place was unfortunately not met. The drinks were about okay minus, and felt watered down. It was very windy and because both doors were open the draft made it pretty annoying. One of the bartenders was coughing and didnt look to healthy, could be because of constant draft through the bar. Not really the fault of the bar, but when we then wanted to pay and leave after having a drink they wanted to insist on us paying the full 120 € even thought the tab left was 32 €. If it would have been nice and comfortable, great drinks we would have stayed and drank more. Unfortunately we then met the manager who started threatening with security. Reading reviews later people get different minmum spend per person so to then try and squize out the maximum from some is pretty weird. If you do go there because you want to try, just take cash to leave and just go when you are finished without the hassle of meeting the bars manager (he is the unfriendly kind who dont really care about your experience but said if we didnt like we should have left immediately before sitting down or right after getting the first drink, but who does that without giving...
