My husband and I stayed at the Matogianni hotel for one night on a stopover in Mykonos on our way to Naxos. I booked directly on their website, which I found gives you more specific room choices than third party booking sites, plus we were able to pay on arrival rather than in advance. ||||The hotel itself is right in the heart of Mykonos town, but as it’s off a small side street, you get none of the noise from the bars and shopping areas nearby.||||We opted for a balcony room, which was actually a very decent size for the price we paid, and considering the location. The beds were comfortable, though my main complaint (as others have mentioned in their reviews) is the wet-room style shower. I felt like we had to almost sweep the water into the drain, as there wasn’t a natural slope to the floor. For one night this would be fine, but I fear if I needed to wash my hair (leaving water on for an extended time) that I could have flooded the whole room. ||||One thing to keep in mind with this hotel is that it is right in the center of Mykonos town, meaning that cars/transfer vehicles can’t get near it. So although I had booked a transfer to the hotel from the airport, our driver had to drop us off at the top of the hill on the edge of town, and we had to walk downhill with our luggage. Thankfully we only had to do the downhill journey, as the next day we caught the sea bus to the new port, which was a flat walk towards the old port - just something to keep in mind if you are staying in the center of town with luggage to carry. ||||Overall, I would definitely stay here again, as the price and location...
Read moreSuperb location.||Superb exterior ||Below average rooms. ||Staff where somewhat helpful ||The price we got for October was exceptionally cheap for the location. Mins from Little Venice , small beach , designer shops. The exterior of the hotel including the outdoor seating was superb.||Rooms were tired , basic , no kettles/ coffee machines , the worse bit was the walls were unbelievably thin . I mean shockingly thin, you could hear clear conversations , every time the chain flushed , wardrobes opening and closing in every director . TV’s loud. ||We was made aware that the room cost around £200 per night in the summer , which is mental . Apart from location. ||October is a beautiful time of year to go to Mykonos , temperature was fantastic in the south of the island. Ornos and Platis Galatis? Around 25 (high UV- we burnt) degrees north of the island about 20 - 22. The first day was there , 90% of the shops and restaurants were open and that dropped to about 80%||We got scammed with the taxi , 25 euros and the trip was 3-4 mins where were got dropped off , they didn’t even take us to the closest bit to the hotel , we heard him state under his breath, too many cars. So it took us 15 - 20 mins to walk , when the walk from the airport is probably 15-20 and is all downhill . Obviously nothing to do with the hotel just advice , all the buses are 2 euros everywhere. And come...
Read moreExcellent, nice clean hotel very centrally located and within walking distance to the centre of Mykonos - set back from the hustle and bustle. 2 minute walk to the beach. ||Stayed here in July we were late arrivals but reception was open 24 hours and we received a warm welcome. ||Due to the location in the town centre we were dropped off in taxi by the bus station we were well aware of this , navigating the busy streets with cases and bags was hectic but we were pleased to get to our accommodation and be happy with it. ||Rooms are small to be expected , had a balcony and air conditioning and a fridge, I just missed being able to make a cup of coffee in the morning as no facilities in room. ||The only slight negative other than above was the wet room, had to put a towel outside the bathroom door to stop water paddling through the room, it could do with some sort of ledge to separate from the toilet . Sink area. ||All staff friendly and room made up on a daily basis. ||Ate breakfast here twice in the secret garden, it’s a shame it closes at 1pm as would of been nice to have drinks here. ||Will...
