Amimoni Restaurant (Nafplia Palace) — Restaurant in Municipality of Nafplio

We decided to have dinner overlooking the bay of Nafplio and came across this restaurant which was hard to find. In brief the 4 star review was for the excellent service from the head server and the breathtaking views overlooking the castle in the middle of the water. We also got treated to an amazing sunset as suggested when I reserved to show up early. The food is neither the quality nor the preparation of a relatively pricey restaurant. The pear salad quality was lost when the cheese came in on a white toasted sandwich. It looked as if I ordered this plate from a low quality beach bar. The wild salmon entree was overcooked and lost its umami. Even the plating, presentation and accompaniments did not go well with the fish. It was underwhelming and very dry. The menu needs tweeking to reflect the amazing location. I will return for a glass of wine watching the sun disappear behind the foothills....but stay...

We had a wonderful evening at the Nafplion Palace restaurant! The atmosphere is unique, you feel transported back to another decade - without the interior looking stale or conservative. Everything is very high quality and tastefully decorated. A very special flair is exuded and accompanied by live music on the piano. But also the food was very tasty (the price more than reasonable for the quality of the food) and above all the staff is very attentive, friendly and we felt very welcome! Blast from the past. And no, it doesn’t look cute, more like semi abandoned. The service is pretentious but not professional. 1 star for the view. Food is unremarkable. The most memorable dish, for all wrong reasons, is lamb chops. They were served on ice cold plate and obviously lamb was cold upon arrival on the table. When I dared to make a comment that main warm dishes should be served on a hot plate, the waiter snapped and said: it summer/hot outside/hence cold plate.
