There were six of us in our group (3 bedrooms total). If you look at the hotel from the front, the lobby is over to the left and our rooms were in the addition over to the right. There were three rooms connected by a hallway and we had all three so it was kind of nice that we were the only ones in that part of the building. The rooms were fine - European so small, but modern and clean which is all I care about. The view was nice as you're up on the hill overlooking the sea, but it's probably a better view from the floor above us as we saw a lot of the tops of buildings.||||We had a few problems. The first morning we woke up early to get a start on the day and the water was freezing cold. I ran outside over to the looby to let the manager know, but she doesn't usually arrive until 8AM so it was just the kitchen staff getting ready for breakfast. Through Google translate I was able to explain what was happening and they called the manager who got on the phone with a plumber. Long story short, it got fixed around 9AM so we got a late start. Rick Steve's says it's not about whether or not there are issues (there always will be) but about how the staff reacts. They were pleasant. To the left of the lobby there was a hallway and at the end was an empty room that had a deluxe bathroom. I went in and turned on the water in the shower and it was hot so apparently the issue was just on our side of the building - maybe with another water heater.||||Then we realized that the shower doors wouldn't stay shut so the bathroom floor was covered in water - slipping hazard. We found that the trashcan next to the toilet was broken and then that the sink was draining really slowly. The staff was able to fix the shower door almost (not 100%, but close) while we were there so that was nice.||||Maybe if we'd been there longer it would have been okay, but our time was so precious if we don't get an early start then there are things we just don't get to do. I guess I figure when you're a hotel hot water in a shower is a basic expectation. Also, there was no "Hey, we know you're getting a late start so breakfast is on us," or, "Hey, we have an empty room with a functioning shower - why don't you use that room so everybody can get clean and you can start your day." It was more along the lines of... we have a plumber and he'll be here soon.||||One last thing, they did have a laundry service and they took our clothes at 10PM and we had all three bags back (dry and folded) the next morning around 8AM for 30 euros so I give them credit for that.||||Would I stay there again? I really don't know. There seemed to be a lot of hotels around and we were there in the off-season so there seemed to be plenty of vacancies. If I'm realistic I think I'd actually hunt around online a bit to see if we could get into a better hotel for what might be...
Read moreLeto Nuevo Hotel enjoys a truly beautiful location, on the higher part of Nafplio just above the old town. From there you can easily walk everywhere. Upon our arrival, the reception staff were friendly, offered to share information about the town, and even carried our luggage to the room. The Deluxe room we had booked was spacious, comfortable, very clean, and offered a nice balcony view of the Bourtzi.||From that point on, however, there were several issues that unfortunately overshadowed our stay. Parking near the hotel is almost impossible, since most spaces have been converted by the municipality into residents-only spots. As a result, guests are practically forced to leave their car at the port and walk 10–15 minutes with their luggage.||The room had not been properly prepared before our arrival. It was not ventilated and the heat inside was overwhelming; it took a whole day for the air conditioning to cool it down. The minibar also needed almost a full day before it could chill water properly.||Noise is a major problem. The windows are not double-glazed, so you hear church bells and sounds from the street below. The shutters have slats that let light in, and the curtains are thin without blackout coverage, which means you inevitably wake up at sunrise.||While the cleanliness of the room was excellent, the overall experience was poor, as the lack of proper rest due to the noise is a serious issue. The negative impression was reinforced by the fact that at check-out, no one from the staff asked about our stay, if we had faced any problems, or if there was anything we would like to mention.||These are not new concerns. They have been mentioned repeatedly, by myself and other guests, since as early as 2021. Having stayed at this property several times, it is disappointing to see no signs of improvement. The location is excellent, but the unchanged problems make the stay...
Read moreHusband and I were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is charming and cozy, and our room had a great ocean view.
We really lucked out with the location of this place. It’s close enough to attractions without being noisy, and it’s easily accessible- unlike other hotels I noticed in old town. Some other places can only be reached through a labyrinth of stairs or narrow streets inaccessible to car. It’s hard to know that from 2D maps. That’s problematic if you have mobility issues or kids in prams. Or a lot of luggage.
Not an issue at Leto Nuevo! There is some parking in front but it’s narrow and hard to back out even with a tiny hatchback. It’s safer and wider at the free municipal parking area 50 or so meters away. We got to Nafplio early in the day, and were able to get a great spot there. The walk to Hotel Nuevo is straight and flat from that area. So, easy to bring luggage from.
The breakfast was tasty with good variety. COVID restrictions had them serving one guest in the buffet area at a time. Only the server is allowed near the food, and you point to what you want. It’s takes a while when there’s a queue so don’t wait till the last minute. The server was super nice and friendly.
My husband thought the keys were humongous and hard to carry around. They’re not key cards, they’re manual. They didn’t give me a key so I didn’t have...
