VEGANS, be warned: MISLEADING LABELS and ignored dietary requirements

We strongly advise vegans to avoid this restaurant. Dishes labeled as vegan are NOT reliably vegan, and staff ignored multiple clear explanations of our dietary restrictions.

We explicitly stated several times that we are vegan – no meat, fish, dairy, or cheese – and we double-checked the so-called vegan options, which already looked questionable on the menu. Despite all that, we were served a non-vegan starter, which we had to send back.

The main dishes appeared to be vegan but tasted dull. Overall, a frustrating and unacceptable experience. Not only that staff had no clue about vegan food - the menu (which shows clear vegan symbols) was...

Lovely view of the water with nice staff, but mediocre, touristy food. I tried the actaion mare pasta and it was extremely bland. Was supposed to be spicy, tasted like nothing. This was the least tasty meal I’ve had after 7 days in Greece. My brother’s sea bass dish was good but I wasn’t impressed by a different pasta dish my mother ordered or the Greek “tacos” we ordered either. If you’re looking for familiar American dishes this place would be fine, but definitely not experiencing delicious Greek cuisine. Walk one more block into nafplio and have real Greek food (if that’s what you’re looking for). Also the house wine is not sold by the carafe like it is...

We were very disappointed and frankly upset with our visit to Aktaion Mare. From the start, we clearly emphasized multiple times that we are vegan. We specifically asked whether the dishes labeled as “vegan” were truly vegan because some seemed suspicious on the menu. We made it clear we do not consume any animal products—no meat, fish, or dairy products.

Despite all this, we were served a non-vegan starter, which we had to send back. This is completely unacceptable.

The main dishes were indeed vegan but unfortunately did not taste good. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

When in Rome, but this is not Italy. Aktiaon mare has a great view and patio. Most definitely a place to sit and socialize. Its food, however, is nothing to write about unless if you’re Italian because the Italian food is far from Italian. It is more of the quality of North American pub food. We ate the breaded prawns and two different types of pizza. BTW their pizza Neapolitan pizza is just a salty cheese pizza. Instead of basil there was salt. Instead of creamy melted mozzarella they seamed to use low quality cheese. Mi dispiace!

Amazing salmon salad. The best I've had in Nafpoli. The salmon was fresh and not overwhelming, the lettuce was crisp and fresh. The cherry tomatoes were a striking red and tasted like God herself kissed each one individually. Lastly the avocados were ripe and melted in my mouth. If I could have stayed there and lived on nothing but the salmon salad, I would have.

Amazing salmon salad. The best I've had in Nafpoli. The salmon was fresh and not overwhelming, the lettuce was crisp and fresh. The cherry tomatoes were a striking red and tasted like God herself kissed each one individually. Lastly the avocados were ripe and melted in my mouth. If I could have stayed there and lived on nothing but the salmon salad, I would have.
