Hotel Nafsika is by far one of my favourite places in this world to visit. I have had the good fortune to travel a lot around this big beautiful world and I prefer to visit a place only once and then move on to another place I've never been. However, since discovering Nafsika and the beautiful people who work to take such good care of you, I have returned each year and will be returning next year again.
I found Nafsika on Tripadvisor and based on its very high ratings and stellar reviews on everything from the location, the hotel itself, the food and of course the staff, I booked 2 weeks. I could not have been happier and am happy to come all the way from Canada each year.
The food is authentic and home cooked and there are numerous dishes to please any taste or preference. The wine is lovely and they can make any of your favourite cocktails. Speros even grew extra mint in his garden this year in anticipation of the many mojitos our group requires. Truly exceptional attention to details like this is a big part of why I don't stray very far from Nafsika when I'm in San Stefanos.
Whether you take in the short jaunt across the street to the beautiful beach on the stunning Ionian Sea or stay around the lovely, huge and spotlessly clean pool and enjoy cocktails and lunch poolside, your days and nights will be well...
Read moreWe pre booked a table for four and turned up exactly on time. The owner came to us with his specials board, but two of the dishes on the board had sold out, as had the kleftico on the main menu. I asked for the beef stamna and was proudly told that he'd virtually invented the dish and it was superb. My wife ordered the moussaka. Starters came out and were freshly cooked and quite decent, then it went downhill. We then waited for 45 minutes before we felt forced to ask where the main dishes were, we'd obviously been completely forgotten. Around 5 minutes later, the mains appeared. My stamna was dry and quite tough, the moussaka was cold in the middle. When we sent the moussaka back, the owner came to us and asked us what we wanted, as if it wasn't obvious! Decent food that's hot and edible would be a good starting point. He removed the moussaka from the final bill, leaving my wife hungry, but then tried to blame a busy night! We had pre booked. If you can't cope with numbers, don't...
Read moreNaf by name, Naf by nature. We visited the taverna for one evening, and that was enough. On arrival, we were almost snubbed as we didnt want to sit near to the greek dancing event. If you like participating in shows, then this is for you, but if you want a quiet meal, then it isnt! I think the waiters were distracted with the eent rather than seeing to their customers. Our waiter was friendly enough, the manager seemed to be away with the fairies and the general service all evening was slow. However, we were hungry and needed to get some dinner so ordered traditional greek dishes from the set menu. When the food finally arrived it was really nice, but the child-sized portion sizes left us both leaving hungry! We stopped off at a local gyros takeaway and took one back to the room! All in all- food was lovely, but expensive for the portions...
