I rarely write negative reviews because I would like to give the benefit of the doubt to the both the cook and the restaurant, but this time, especially as a Greek, I felt obliged to do so. The tavern is small, menu options are limited (nothing wrong in my mind with this), very nice location by the water and lovely sunset. And these are all the positives I can say about this place. Service is terrible. My wife is pregnant and cannot consume several things, but the waitress did not inform us about the eggplant salad containing mayonnaise (has unpasteurized eggs sometimes in it). When we told her politely about this, her reply was: “I don’t know about these things, you know better”. Oh also not to mention that eggplant dip does not contain mayo usually and tasted nothing like what we expected. I also asked for a wine list and her reply was: “oh I don’t know them, you should come inside check them out”. And now about the food, highlight of our experience: We order whitebait which usually comes fried after it’s cleaned and drenched lightly in flour. A much bigger fish came (probably anchovy or a larger whitebait variation), which was uncleaned (i showed the gut to the waitress) and badly fried. Her reaction was: “this is how we do it here”, but to be honest did not charge us for it and offered to replace it with something else. Same thing with the sardines, which seemed fresh indeed but completely overcooked. The fried zucchini was a disgrace: floppy, extremely oily and completely unseasoned or in other words: the exact opposite of how it should be. Finally we ordered a slice of amberjack (again the waitress had no idea whether my pregnant wife can eat this-we had to look it up). It was well grilled and juicy, but again without any seasoning and a terrible “salad” as a side. This particular fish needs some help with seasoning and/or a vinaigrette. Restaurants like this one give a bad name to greek gastronomy. I would not visit again and do not recommend this to anyone. Hope they improve a lot in the future to make this...
Read moreWe stayed in Paxos one week, and after discovering Mandi’s restaurant and its owners our first night, finally we had dinner in there four of our six nights. The food, their hospitality, the place in front of the port, the quiteness and even the price are five stars, almost six but i can’t for tripadvisor limitation. We recommend the place for everyone who wants to enjoy a good night and meal in this incredible island. And if you go there on Friday, they have greek live music. Can you ask for more? I think no… if we return to Paxos, for sure we will come back every night we can. Thanks for everything to Mandi’s team!! Robert & Miriam...
Read moreMandis is one of the best dining options in Paxos. Every dish is crafted with care, making you feel like a cherished guest rather than just another customer. The menu is small but offers something for everyone(vegeterian, pescatarian, meat choices), which is a testament to the meticulous attention to detail and the lack of haste in preparation. If you're fortunate, you might meet Kiko🦮, the restaurant's princess—second after Queen Mandi—who will add the perfect finishing touch to your meal by allowing you to give her...
