Masao Sushi & Cocktails — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

What a horrible service, seriously the worst service we ever experienced. My girlfriend and i are both service and didn't understand wtf they were doing. There were 2 guys constant talking with the same tables, but we literally needed to wait 20 min to order our second drink with 2 empty glasses literally on the table ( even after talking and making eye contact with the waitress ) she just ignored us and walked away. One of the guys was chewing gum with his mouth open, seriously horrible to see. Looks like it was there first day in hospitality. Not checking if our glasses are empty and asking for new drinks. Our plates got taken away immediatly after 1 roll of sushi, because the waitress didn't even care to check if we had ordered other stuff. All the stuff came with constant 5 minutes inbetween while every other table got everything at ones. When you ask such "high end" prices for drinks and food i expect the service to be way better than this. I absolutely do not expect michelin star service but this really was really poor. Probs to the kitchen team, because the food was actually one of the only good things!

This meal was a real journey, and not in the "exploring new flavors" kind of way. More like "are we there yet?" Our main courses, I'll admit, were quite good. Top marks for flavor, really. The boss… or at least, who I assumed was the boss, because he was the only one radiating any sort of helpful energy, was actually quite pleasant and gave us updates on our food's ETA. A genuine beacon of hope in a sea of… waiting. Then came dessert. We opted for the cheesecake, clearly feeling optimistic. And waited. And waited some more. When we finally managed to flag down our waiter, he informed us the cheesecake was currently being "baked." Baked. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one. Perhaps they have a very unique, highly time-consuming baking process involving cryogenics, because when it finally arrived, it was less "cheesecake" and more "flavored ice puck." Absolutely rock solid, clearly straight from the freezer. So, a word to the wise: enjoy the main courses here, by all means. But when it comes to dessert, just… don't. We visited Masao Sushi & Cocktails for the first time four days ago — and it was so incredible that we came back every single evening since then. That alone should tell you how exceptional this place is.

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed so warmly that we felt right at home. The staff are truly the best — kind, attentive, and full of genuine hospitality. They go above and beyond to make every guest feel special.

And the food? Absolutely divine. Every single dish we tried was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Combined with their delicious cocktails and the cozy, inviting atmosphere, it made for unforgettable evenings, time and time again.
