In a country renowned for warmth and good vibes, Timi's manages the rare achievement of making hospitality feel like hostility.I regret the sour aftertaste of this restaurant, as most of the food was good, but the extraordinarily unpleasant management colored my experience.
At Timi's, that was not only absent but actively hostile. Over the years, my partner and I have spent around thirty weeks cumulatively in Greece, eaten fava countless times, and never once even thought of sending a plate back. Here, the fava arrived drowned in vinegar and with pickled, rather than raw, onions. When I asked about sending it back or exchanging it, the manager dismissed us with the claim that “normal fava is too boring.” He leaned on the “policy” that a plate could only be returned before it was tasted — meaning that one must judge a dish by its appearance alone. It wasn’t simply the refusal that mattered, but the evasive, patronizing way it was delivered, which reeked of contempt.
Equally telling was the response when I noted the 5-euro charge for water. “This is how it is in Greece,” I was told. After decades of travel here I can say confidently that, outside of a few hotspots in the Cyclades, I've never paid more than 3.50 at a modest restaurant. The point, of course, isn’t the price difference, but the arrogance in brushing off a genuine query with a falsehood, as though we were naïve first timers.
TLDR - you may enjoy a solid meal, but you will likely leave with the impression that your presence was a nuisance rather than a pleasure. They don't seem to agree that an essential part of dining out, especially in a holiday destination, is...
Read moreThis was our third attempt on 3rd of Aug '18 to trust the inviting person downstairs in front of one of the several Lindos' roof terrace restaurants that they will provide a table for us with really nice view to the castle. This time we hit the bulls eye when choosing to stay at this nice place. Not only is it in fact the highest roof terrace restaurant in old town Lindos, it was also satisfying in every other aspect - which couldn't be expected when the view is already the best in town. The menu looked stylish (unlike in the neighbored restaurant below), the waiters were not only friendly but treated us almost like one of them (which means: familiar), the view from the top most level can't be hidden by anything, but also the food was very good. Especially the octopus was the best I was allowed to test on this island. We would have liked to follow the recommendation to share one of the huge Meze plates, unfortunately we couldn't agree on...
Read moreFeels like a family business. Very nice service, which is soooooooooo important in a touristy place like Lindos. The only disadvantage is overpriced menu. What do I mean? It's simple: I had a lamb in lemon juice which was very good, but being really hungry, that would be not enough. The price for dinner for 2 was €50. I might be wrong, but it's a lot of money. Why one has to pay that? - because it's in Lindos (!) Sorry, my fellows, but it doesn't make any sense. Lindos today is dying in here and there and it is because Greeks want to take most of the summer time. Don't be offended, but less means more, and unfortunately it seems like in couple of years more business es might face that reality. Why don't you want to be famous for excellent cuisine, for reasonable prices? That would make you famous (!) Instead, it's another place which relatively high prices, where after being one time you are not...
