Visiting Agora in Thessaloniki was nothing short of a culinary revelation. From the moment I stepped inside, the vibrant atmosphere and the tantalizing aroma of authentic Greek cuisine transported me to the heart of Greece. The passionate chefs at Agora masterfully blend tradition and innovation, creating dishes that are not just food, but poetry on a plate.
The mezze selection was a symphony of flavors, each bite telling a story of centuries-old culinary expertise. The freshness of the ingredients used in their salads and seafood dishes was unparalleled, reminding me of the coastal breeze and the taste of the sea. The lamb souvlaki was a succulent masterpiece, perfectly grilled and seasoned to perfection, capturing the essence of Greek hospitality and warmth.
But what truly set Agora apart was not just the food, but the spirit of the place. The staff, with their genuine smiles and deep knowledge of the menu, made me feel like an old friend rather than a visitor. Their passion for preserving and sharing the rich gastronomic heritage of Greece was evident in every recommendation and every dish served.
The ambiance was another delightful surprise, combining rustic charm with a modern twist. It was the kind of place where time seemed to slow down, allowing me to savor every moment and every flavor. The selection of Greek wines and spirits was a testament to the dedication Agora has in offering a complete, immersive experience.
In the bustling heart of Thessaloniki, Agora stands as a beacon of culinary excellence and cultural celebration. It's not just a restaurant; it's a gastronomic journey through the soul of Greece. My experience at Agora was nothing short of extraordinary, and I wholeheartedly give it a well-deserved...
Read moreI used to be very fond of Ergon Agora in its early days. What a great business concept, how ingenious of Douzis brothers! Wow ... I just rested in awe. Several years later, after coming back home from abroad, and my utter awe turned into gradual disappointment. Some of their-mostly likeable-young stuff are totally unprofessional, struggling so much to come across as pros that they end up acting like badly trained amateurs to the experienced eye. I had the worst macchiato I've ever had in that place (which discouraged me from ever getting a coffee from them again). The food I had in the premises and the food I took for delivery was mediocre at best and markedly overpriced. On a positive note, I'm quite happy with all my purchases from the grocery store-the fact that they're always available and at close reach to my place is a big plus (other than the great variety and excellent quality of their products). As someone being in the same line of business, please-and I meant this with all good intent (I've said the same thing to my own parents)-take careful consideration of the training of your employees and be more actively & personally involved. This is a great business venture by all means. It's such a shame to have people involved who do not do justice to it, and especially not due to their own fault-they do the best they can given the means at their disposal. You deserve to be the best and, to my view,...
Read moreA lot has changed since we first ate at Ergon Agora - 9 years ago - and all in a bad way. Because we were three - 2 adults and a child, we chose a 4 places table from the whole empty restaurant. But before we got to sit, a rude girl (who was staying at the entrance door on July 19, 2025) came and told us we have to move to a table for 2. We looked for one that would accommodate 3 people, moved and then she came and told us we could not sit there because she has a reservation for that table (table that remained empty during our dinner and when we left it was still empty - so the reservation was in fact not a reservation). I now know we should have left, but for the great times we had in Ergon, we decided to stay (being our last dinner in Salonic). But then the food came - Tirokaftery and the bread were good, but the fries were almost chips, the lamb chops were definitely not lamb chops, but some thin and burnt slices of meat with 2 baby potatoes squashed, and the fish was also burnt with half slices of some vegetables (carrot, corn, beetroot, broccoli and cauliflower). The lamb chops were the biggest disappointment 😞 And for the drinks - they do not have glasses for wine, you get to drink it from water glasses, small ones. In the end, a very big disappointment - high prices, poor service, bad quality of food and...
