Absolutely loved everything about our experience at Cacio e Pepe in Santorini. From the moment we walked up to the restaurant's driveway, Emilio treated our family of 4 as if we were VIPs (we're not). He seated us at a nice table, expressed genuine interest in us, our backgrounds, and our travels and experiences thus far. He then provided recommendations and took care of us in a warm and welcoming way. He's a very cool dude. His colleague, Spiros, came up later and did the same. We truly enjoyed the service and genuine friendliness we experienced at Cacio e Pepe. Note: We were in Santorini the week before the major tourist season began. So, we didn't need a reservation. We just walked up around 6PM.
Now, to Cacio e Pepe's pezzo forte...the FOOD!!! Just superb. For our apps, we had salad, bruschetta, and focaccia bread. They were all great. But, that focaccia bread...WOWSERS!!! Just excellent.
For our main course, we had margherita pizzas (one traditional, one bufala), lasagna bolognese, spinach lasagna, and, of course, the cacio e pepe pasta. They were all great. We would go back for not only for Emilio and Spiros but also for the great food. To finish everything off, we had tiramisu. It was so good that we ordered a second piece!!!
Lastly, Cacio e Pepe is in an excellent location. Very close to the the central area, great views, shops, and nearby lodging.
Overall, just an awesome experience with awesome people (Emilio and Spiros), and excellent food. If we're in Santorini again, we'll definitely go...
Read moreThe waiter came over and we ordered mussels which came with garlic bread - and was pushing bread on us to start even though the starter came with garlic bread , we ordered Lobster pasta - which came with maybe 5 baby pieces of lobster 🦞- we returned this and asked for just grilled shrimp - I already had my chicken Marsala that I ordered for myself and my wife waited another 25 min and still no shrimp - so I ate dinner alone - they came back and I asked to wrap everything in a box and give me the bill - another 25 min passed and I asked again for my food which wa supposed to be boxed up - seems that they threw my food away and I had to wait for a whole new order. So for my chicken Marsala and 2 glasses of wine and a shot of whiskey my bill was close to 100 euro. Not including tip - I would not recommend this place - seems like that they are more worried about you taking an instagram pic of your overpriced food and moving on to the next customer - I litter ally had to ask 5 people 3x to get my meal in a box and in front of me so I could leave - meaning I spent an extra 40 min at the table just waiting for stuff. As a chef - I would I say efforts were not good enough. Try Tirana tavern across the street- not Italian but at least it’s affordable and amazing food and you don’t need to feel like they don’t care about you pr...
Read moreProbably best just to avoid here. The starter of bruschetta was pretty bland and when I asked for olive oil and balsamico, a standard of italy, the waiter questioned why i wanted it and seemed to get in a mood. My partners aubergine parmesano had mint in it instead of basil. Our waitor was possibly the rudest and worst we've had and check our reviews! They got our order wrong and the waitor came to us, blamed us and frankly we just wanted to leave. When my partner ordered a vegetarian dish, he questioned her if she was a vegetarian and why, shes not but it was incredibly rude. I ordered chicken and got veal and apparently that was my fault i ordered incorrectly despite my partner nor I hearing him repeat the order. He spoke perfect English and I'm not sure how veal and chicken were misunderstood. I got thrown a half bothered 4 pieces of chicken and some cold potatoes. Probably from the veal i gave back. Wine was OK in fairness. But we didnt even eat together. The waiter got that we were annoyed and just ignored us. Didn't even bring us our bill. The waiter who brought our bill was...
