Read from the reviews that service was bad here, but the food was good. So, we decided to dine at this restaurant as my friend was interested in their unique 'plate breaking' tradition. Heads up! You can only break the plates at night. This is not available during the day. The restaurant is in a good location with a good view. It seemed like this restaurant has 3 levels, entrance via the top level. Toilets on the second level. They prefer to accept cash. It appeared to me that they could accept card payments, but they will tell you to pay in cash instead. Extensive menu, but most of the items were not available to order. The owner mentioned to us that "if there is no price next to the food item, then it's not available." Then I don't understand why, so they have it on their menu?? Even the food items with a price tag were unavailable. To have selected food and to be told they are not available multiple times is annoying. My niece ordered the spicy peppers for both of us to share, and out came a plate with one skimpy looking pepper with olives. For the cost of €4.20! When asked if that's all it is to this dish, the owner said "yes" and walked away. It was truly disappointing and made the dining experience much worse. I ordered beef stifado with rice. My dish came out with the other dishes, and it took another 20 mins for the rice to be served after asking twice about it. Noted that most of the dishes that came out were greasy. One of the meat dishes was ordered to be cooked medium rare, but it came out over cooked. Out of 5 people, 4 of them did not enjoy the food. Service & Staff behaviour has to be improved. Will not recommend dining here.

Overall, the only bad experience I had in Thera. With all the choices this area offers I would suggest you pass on this restaurant even though it seems authentic and is conveniently located. It was incredibly loud, had very poor service, allowed people waiting for tables to be within inches of our table … even after requesting some space between them and our table absolutely nothing was done. Even without waiting patrons they are squeezing more people into this space than is normal and seem to not have enough staff to support nearly as many guests as they are seating. Finally, our daughter had to leave the table to avoid the woman’s armpits directly over her head while she continued to take pictures for quite some time. The pictures attached to this review are what we saw next to our table for our entire 90+ minute dinner. It was a stressful and miserable way to have dinner. We ate at numerous other Thera establishments during our stay and all but this one were wonderful. The food was good but not great and the first three menu items I tried to order were not available tonight. So, I ordered something that was a 4th choice instead of what I really wanted. No apology for being out of so many things. The service was poor. The attentiveness of the staff was almost non-existent. A tough way to spend an evening and eat dinner in Thera. If you go I hope you have a better experience than we did. They will let you throw and break plates while you’re there. So, if that’s important to you this is the only place I saw that occur. Broken plates everywhere on the way in and out. Good luck!

this is one of my best memories in santorini for sure: i was looking for a greek plate smashing restaurant and this is the first one that came up on google so i booked a table for 2. i was a bit bummed by their poor organisation and time management as i booked a table but still had to queue up but hey guess what the owner just poured 2 cups of white house wine for us and we had a nice time enjoying the thira sunset on the stairs. we ordered the naoussa pasta which is basically red and white sauce pasta but oo i was impressed, and we ordered the lemon chicken and shrimp platter. but what i liked the most was the red house wine!! there’s something about greek red house wine that captivates me, it’s so smooth and sweet, also not to mention how cheap the wine is. the owner smashes plates randomly and we were at the back side of the restaurant then when we were hoping he would come back here and smash the plates, the staffs started handing out plates for us!! i can tell all of us were very excited about this and the vibe all night was just the best, what can you ask for more? good food and view, plate smashing, free house wine… one of the staffs asked where are we from and said hi in our language, that was really cute. overall this restaurant is a must go in my opinion, OPA!!

Chaotic, terrible service, discriminatory seating, hit or miss on the food. Good view, good atmosphere, and good prices were the only redeeming qualities.

We made a reservation online weeks ago, but when we called to confirm the reservation time, we were told they don’t take reservations (???), but the wait was “always less than 15 minutes”. We got there and waited 40 minutes or so for a table. There was no organization for those waiting - no list or anything; there was a line, but multiple parties walked right past it to the tables and were seated before us. I can’t blame the customers as it was very confusing, there was no host stand and no one directing those arriving.

We finally were seated at a great table up against the wall facing the water. We told them beforehand we were a party of 2, only for the same person that seated us to come back and say “no this table is for 4”, making us get up and wait another 20 minutes. We were confused but politely got up without making an issue of it.

Shortly after, another couple that had just arrived - they spoke Greek, we do not - was given the same size table (“for 4”) facing the water and we were finally seated towards the back. This was a bit frustrating but we stayed positive, wanting to enjoy our time.

We were between two tables with couples seated the same time as us. They had water and wine before we were even given a menu, and their food was out before we even had water. We waited at least 25 minutes for water, watching the couples next to us enjoy their wine and dinner.

I ordered filet with peppercorn sauce, but the server told me they didn’t have it and insisted I get the T-bone steak. I felt rushed and didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes to order so I agreed, asking for it to be cooked medium.

The t-bone was VERY well done and dry - a hint of pink against the bone. I ate what I could but most of it was inedible. My wife liked the lemon chicken and I wished I had also ordered a traditional Greek dish.

We asked for the check, but another 20 minutes went by without anyone coming back - at this point there were new couples seated next to us already eating. I went up to the bar and asked if we could get the check, which finally arrived after another 10 minutes.

You pay downstairs and a lovely older gentleman (owner?) was the cashier. He was very friendly and asked how everything was; I didn’t have the heart to complain, and the bill was only ~50€.

If they had even a hint of organization to the seating and serving, I probably wouldn’t have felt the need to leave...

We decided this restaurant looked like a nice authentic Greek experience. I hope our experience was not an authentic Greek experience. We saw a table was available, with a view and sat down. A man came up, did not greet us, but said we could not sit there as it was a table for 4. Fair enough, and we sat at a table for 2. A few minutes later, another couple went and sat down at the 4 person table with a good view. And I waited for them to shown to a 2 person table, but no one did, despite 2 other tables being available.

We looked through the menu, which was oily and grimy. I went to look for hand sanitiser as our table had none, but the other tables did.

As the owner walked past I noticed he had had cough and was using a menu to to cough into, as he went around taking orders from patrons. This was disgusting as the menu would then be handed to a patron.

The owner came to take out order. At this stage we had still not been greeted by anyone. It was also noticeable that none of the employees were smiling or passing on any illusion that this was a pleasant place to be. Instead, it was clear that this was a tedious chore.

We asked for 2 more minutes. The owner seemed taken aback. And walked away. He proceeded to take orders etc and ignore us. At no time did he ask whether we were ready to order again. We had to go to him and tell him that we were ready to order. And guess what he said? I will be 2 minutes.'

He then proceeded to seat 3 more tables, take 4 table orders, from people rhat arrived after we had said we would like to order.

In this time, no one had delivered any water to our table or made any enquiries.

Time to leave. Disappointing that patrons are treated like this. If you are not enjoying your restaurant, amd you do not enjoy interacting with your guests, then get another job.

However, I always say some things are meant to be. We found a genuine lovely restaurant. Great atmosphere, the lady who was taking orders was amazing and made a point of making a personal connection with all her customers at some level. Discussed menu selections etc and was a wonderful host. Great little restaurant in Fira in one of the white washed cobbles lanes in the shopping area. We have fish gopa, fish was fresh and tasted delicious and he best eggplant...

I wish I could give 0 star. The only thing that ruined my trip to Santorini. My experience is TERRIBLE. I do not recommend this resto at all!

There are a few reasons to this:

  1. Reservation: We have made a reservation for a table with sunset view A FEW WEEKS AHEAD, and the chef emailed me confirming my reservation request. However, when I arrived, it was full house already (no tables are reserved) and smashed plates (super messy and noisy). The manager didn’t even listen to me because she was too busy serving the people, and leave us waiting like we were walk-ins.

  2. Waiting: We get that they have a lot of customers, so we waited patiently (even though we already have a reservation). As we saw people keep coming in and asked the manager how long the waiting time is, the manager kept saying “I don’t know, but won’t be long, pls stay.” We arrived earlier than our reservation time, but still the manager kept us waiting from 7:30-8:30 to get a seat.

  3. Unfair Service: We were there for a sunset view, but they arranged the only seat that had absolutely no view but big wind to us. We asked for a switch of seats, they did not allow us, and said that they will change us to a better seats when the people left. The sun set already, all was left was big wind. (The kind of wind that u get in Brighton) We waited a long time for the switch, no reply at all.

They initiated a switch of table to the table next to us, but never switched our seats. We couldn’t take it, but we have ordered food already. We only got a switch of seat when my family kinda threw a tantrum at the manager. (otherwise they will just leave us sitting in the wind)

4)Food: Food is served late, super late. I asked the manager about it. She kept saying, “Food need to be cooked. One Minute.” (as if I don’t know) The food was not here until we kept asking them.

Overall, i do not recommend this restaurant and will not come here again if i visit...
