My friend and I had an uncomfortable experience at this restaurant. Our server started hitting on us early on. When I didn’t respond to his advances, his attitude turned noticeably cold, and he ignored me for the rest of the meal. The table placement didn’t help either, as it was right next to the stairs, forcing me to get up constantly to let people pass. When I eventually stopped moving for a staff member, they looked visibly frustrated with me, adding to an already uncomfortable atmosphere. To top it off, my dish was so salty it was almost inedible.Looking back, I probably should have left because of the disrespectful service, but I decided to stay to enjoy the sunset view. Unfortunately, a good view can’t make up for poor service and bad food.
Follow up response to the owner: I AM INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED WITH YOUR RESPONSE, ESPECIALLY AS IT DISMISSES MY EXPERIENCE AND EVEN GETS BASIC DETAILS WRONG. JUST TO CLARIFY, I ORDERED THE CHICKEN GYROS, NOT LAMB, AND MY FRIEND ORDERED THE OCTOPUS—NOT THAT IT SHOULD MATTER, BUT IT SHOWS HOW LITTLE ATTENTION YOU’RE PAYING TO WHAT I’M SAYING.
THE WAITER IGNORED MY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE OVERLY SALTY FOOD AND DIDN’T OFFER TO CHANGE MY PLATE, CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU CLAIM. MY FRIEND AND I FELT UNCOMFORTABLE AND UNWELCOME DUE TO BOTH THE WAITER’S ATTITUDE AND THE CONSTANT TRAFFIC NEAR OUR TABLE, WHICH WAS DISRUPTIVE.
IT’S DISAPPOINTING TO SEE THAT, INSTEAD OF TAKING RESPONSIBILITY OR SHOWING GENUINE CONCERN, YOU’RE SUGGESTING THAT I’M LYING. THIS EXPERIENCE AND YOUR RESPONSE MAKE IT CLEAR THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT A PRIORITY FOR YOUR ESTABLISHMENT. I HOPE YOU TAKE THIS FEEDBACK SERIOUSLY FOR THE SAKE OF...
Read moreThis is one of the worst restaurants I went to while in Santorini. The salad was inedibly salty and the club sandwich wasn’t too much better. Total tourist trap—as with most of the restaurants along the Caldera—save your money and go elsewhere.
Edit and response to Nektar: The owners at Nektar claim I finished my food. I did not. It barely ate my salad, because of the aforementioned saltiness. They did ask how the food “looked” - before we took our first bite, so of course I said good because it did look pretty nice! They are correct that i did not send it back, because I had to get going. I shall amend my review to 2 stars, due to the nice view and the very quick service. But You can see by their resorting to calling me a liar that this is no place in which any man or woman of good will should ever seek to dine. Would you want to dine at a place where you are called a liar on a public forum for stating matters of fact? Perhaps if you are a desperate gringo tourist in need of a quick bite with a nice view, and quality of the food is of...
Read moreWe came for sunset on a very windy day and while it was very cold, the food was worth it! We had stuffed cabbage leaves which were amazing. We loved the sauce and oils included and the pita bread was an added bonus. I really enjoyed the moussaka. I've had moussaka so many times around Greece. Some places are great, some are good, some are terrible. I would say the moussaka here is definitely high on my list of moussakas. Not the best but very satisfying. My wife enjoyed the carbonara. It wasn't very eggy but my wife likes it the way they made it.
I noticed many things on their menu are frozen and I try to avoid it in favor of fresh foods. Fish, chicken and pork are all frozen, though I understand some things must be here due to problems shipping it in. Everything my wife and I had appeared to be fresh and we really enjoyed it all.
The sunset was beautiful, the staff was really nice and accommodating and while I did not have a cocktail, many people say they love them at Nektar.
