A Santorini Jewel That Feels Like Family from First Bite!

Ouzeri has been delighting diners in Fira for more than 15 years, and it’s easy to see why. Chef-owner Giorgos Stakias, trained at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, blends classic technique with a devotion to Santorini’s local ingredients. The result is pure magic.

We sat on the breezy terrace, two stories above the streets of Fira, and let our incredible server, Theo, take charge. He chose every dish and paired them with a crisp local Assyrtiko wine that tasted like liquid sunshine.

The Santorini tomatokeftedes were golden and crispy, bursting with the sweet intensity of the island’s famous tomatoes, lightened by herbs and a touch of salt from the sea air itself. The recipe and photo instructions on how to make them are on the restaurant's website!

The fava bean dip was smooth and velvety, topped with onions and briny capers that made each bite sing with earthy depth and sharp brightness.

The stuffed calamari was unforgettable—the hood filled with aromatics, herbs, and cheese, carefully sealed with toothpicks, then lightly grilled until tender and smoky. Each bite was balanced and perfect.

The moussaka was everything you want: silky layers of eggplant, warmly spiced meat, and a creamy béchamel topping that melted together into comfort on a plate.

And the pastitsio? Without question the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly al dente pasta, deeply flavorful meat sauce, and a cloud-light béchamel on top. It was one of those rare dishes you know will stay with you long after the trip ends.

Service was outstanding from start to finish. Theo treated us like old friends, and the owners themselves stopped by to greet us warmly. The whole team radiated the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like family.

If you’re in Santorini, don’t miss this place. Between the history, the chef’s artistry, the breeze on the terrace, and food that redefines Greek classics, Ouzeri is the restaurant you’ll tell everyone about when you get home.

The cost reflected in our review included 2 cocktails each and wine...

Charged €1.50 for stale bread to dip in our tzatziki. I should’ve known by the red checkered table cloths that this would be Olive Garden+ lol. A common thing I’m running into in Santorini is they claim the chicken is halal, but they also sell alcohol, and pork which is probably cooked in the same area. Anyway, I guess it’s a nice option but the vibe made me feel weird. €16.50 for one small chicken breast… and possibly microwaved rice. Vegetarian Mousaka was fine, some have reviewed it and stated it’s homemade… so wondering if some stuff is not so fresh. The menu seems small enough to not serve frozen food? But you never know. We tried this place because our hotel suggested it…. Which is shocking because our hotel is actually quite nice and served a delicious breakfast. Anyway, walked away with a €47 bill for 2 meals 1 appetizer and 2 sprites. Plus €3 fee for paying with card.

The guy offered to scoop the moussaka out of the dish for me (it’s baked in the dish it’s served in.) The execution was weird, so I told him just leave me with the hot bowl, I can manage 😂

Not super relevant to the restaurant, but they could’ve seated us farther from these people lol. There was a group of American and Australian travelers, talking very loudly (I know us Americans are loud, but this was too much) It’s a restaurant not a bar. Save your Bali Belly stories for somewhere else that people aren’t...

RACIAL PROFILING, THE FOOD WAS NASTY, WAIT STAFF WERE RUDE

I ate most of my food but it was nasty and I had to talk to 2 people before getting to the manager. She proceeded to tell me if she went to China and did not like the food she would still pay for the food, which I did. This was racially inappropriate. At no point did I speak Chinese and she just assumed it. She also assumed we are American and said America might be different but this is “good food” and organic and basically telling me I have no taste. They also over charged us for things we did not order. The whole time I had to ask for the water twice as I was coughing up a storm due to allergies and the service was very poor. No one attended to us besides for giving us our food after 20 mins of waiting. The person who came to check us out did basic math on the table and didn’t even calculate the right amount. When I corrected her she pulled out a calculator to do 50.20-6.50 which she got 43.80 but I said it is actually 43.70 and she didn’t believe me. Overall the food is not worth the price the view was mid and service was bad, people are rude and even racist. I...

If you visit Fira, you can't miss this restaurant. I was lucky enough to have dinner there today, and the experience was simply incredible. I decided to try the stuffed tomatoes, a traditional Santorini dish, and it was the best choice. They were exquisite, with an authentic flavor that truly shows the care and passion for local cuisine. In addition, all the other dishes we tried were of very good quality, which confirms they have an excellent menu. The service was also top-notch. The waiters were very kind and attentive at all times, making the dinner even more pleasant. Without a doubt, it's a place I would go back to a thousand times. Highly recommended!
