Absolutely horrendous dining experience, please do yourself a favor and go to one of the many nicer restaurants right next door. Here is a list of all of the things that went wrong in my dining experience. Upon arrival to our reservation which we had for over a month, the host sent us downstairs without following us and we were greeted by a rude manager. She threw the 5 people in my group at a 4 person table and got one of her servers to add a placemat to my seat, which protruded into the aisle. This caused me to get elbowed more than 10 times throughout the night as I was sitting directly in the aisle. More than 50% of the tables around us had reserved seating signs, but ours did not even though we were reserved. Probably a miscommunication and a bad attitude towards walk in guests (even though we weren’t). 75% of seats in the restaurant could not see the sunset. This is advertised as a sunset dinner and almost everyone cannot even see the sunset. I visited in mid June, not the offseason, and the cliff blocked almost everyone’s view. The previously mentioned manager, a middle aged woman in a short white dress and large sunglasses, was constantly talking on a radio very loudly and yelling at her waiting staff. She was very rude to us and her staff. Her staff were great, the only decent part of the night. George L was a fine waiter and I had no complaints, but I saw her yell at him at least 4 times in the short time I was there. I ordered a mojito and the first sip was all raw sugar. It was not mixed at all. I spent most of the night mixing it before the sugar finally absorbed. Not to mention it was 18€. My friends ordered the taco appetizer and it came looking very fancy sitting on a half lime. The lime was on a plate over some small black pebbles, which looked quite like rock salt. However, after my friend squeezed the lime, which was covered in the pebbles, on his taco, he realized the pebbles were just that, and inedible. We also saw the table right behind us have the same problem. Very poor plating decision. Finally, the prices. As expected everything was ridiculously overpriced and ridiculously undersized. I put this last because it is kind of expected at a sunset dinner in Santorini, but I was still disappointed, especially after all of the other wrongdoings. All in all, please do not visit this restaurant and spend your...
Read moreWe arrived well in advance of our reservation because we wanted to celebrate our anniversary while enjoying the beautiful view of Santorini. Unfortunately, the welcome was far from warm: we were left waiting without even being offered bread while deciding on our order.
From the very beginning we asked to be seated in the front row at 7:30 pm near the terrace, but we were told that all the tables were taken. In reality, several remained empty until 10:00 pm. After some insistence, we were seated in the second row, but in a way that made us feel as if we were bothering them with our request. At that time, the restaurant was almost empty.
We ordered a starter, a first course, and a main, along with a drink and some water while waiting. The first course, linguine with shrimp, took about 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive, and it was served together with the grilled tuna. The waiting time was far too long: normally everything should have been served within 20 minutes. Moreover, the linguine did not bring out the taste of the sea at all — instead, they had a strangely sweet aftertaste, probably due to honey in the sauce, making them practically inedible.
The only dish we appreciated was the starter: the tuna tartare served with the spritz was decent.
During dinner, a waiter mistakenly asked us if we wanted to finally move to the front row. Then, realizing we were not the ones they meant, he simply walked away without any explanation and went to offer that opportunity to the couple next to us, who were also seated in the second row. We were left speechless, with no further clarification.
When it came time to pay, we had to wait again for the bill. The card terminal displayed a tipping screen written only in Greek, with no English translation. We had to ask several times for clarification, and only then were we told that pressing the last option would skip the tip.
Finally, the waiter placed the receipt on the table rather coldly and walked away.
This will be our last memory of Barolo: we will not recommend it and we will...
Read moreI don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this experience was so underwhelming that I felt compelled to share it. We were genuinely looking forward to this meal, especially given the stunning view the restaurant offers – and to be fair, the view is the only redeeming quality here. Everything else was either poorly executed, overpriced, or just plain bad.
First of all, the food was absolutely ridiculous in terms of both presentation and taste. Almost every dish we ordered was drowned in sauce – not the good kind, unfortunately. It was as if the kitchen was trying to cover up a lack of flavor or freshness by overloading everything with thick, heavy, tasteless sauces. Nothing felt balanced or thoughtfully prepared.
We tried several things: the meat was overcooked and chewy, the pasta was bland and dripping in some weird creamy sauce that had no identity, and even the side dishes were either cold or completely uninspired. The portions looked generous but had no real substance – it was more quantity over quality, and even the quantity wasn’t enjoyable.
Service was average at best. Not rude, but clearly indifferent and not really attentive to details. We waited far too long between courses, and when we politely mentioned that the food wasn’t really to our liking, we received a shrug and nothing else. No apologies, no alternatives, nothing.
Drinks? Mediocre. Cocktails were watery, and the wine we chose was served too warm. Honestly, it just felt like they were banking on the view to carry the entire experience – and for some tourists, maybe it works. But if you care about what’s actually on your plate, look elsewhere.
To sum it up: apart from the view, there’s nothing here that justifies the price or the hype. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food. It’s a tourist trap with pretty scenery, but zero soul in the kitchen. Avoid it.
We just put...
