A Note of Gratitude (and Pistachio) from a Gelato-Obsessed Group
We rolled into Alaska Gelateria with a full crew—toddlers, adults, stroller chaos, the works. It was late, we were loud, and frankly, we wouldn’t have blamed the staff for pretending they were closed. Instead, they welcomed us like we were old friends.
Within five minutes, Julian—my two-year-old—was deep in a mango gelato trance, and the rest of us weren’t far behind. I’ve had a lot of gelato in a lot of places (some of which take themselves very seriously), and this ranks up there with the best of them. The pistachio is perfect. The fruit flavors actually taste like fruit. And the texture? Spot on. Smooth but not overly rich. Just right.
The staff was patient, kind, and somehow managed to make a group of twelve feel like individuals—not always easy in the height of summer in the middle of town.
Speaking of which, the location is prime—right in the heart of Skiathos town. But it doesn’t feel touristy or transactional. The space is clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. It’s clear someone cared not just about how the gelato tastes, but how the whole experience feels.
We went once. Then again. Then again the next night. That probably says more than any...
Read moreGot brought in by the owner who assured me alternative milk not a problem and took my order at the bar and told us to find a seat. Waiter then came over and asked us what we wanted? Told him Almond milk latte single shot and a flat white. Came back put a drink in front of me and walked away! My partner went up and asked which drink this was? He said mine and when we asked if almond he said yes. So I drink some! Another drink came out and we asked what that was? Got the guy who made it to come over and the first drink was cows milk and I had drank a third! We explained it was important and it would make me sick! But they just didn’t seem to get it!! No apology had to leave the drinks as I just didn’t trust them as they not only didn’t have a clue what almond milk was they didn’t understand anything about intolerances or allergies! Never saw the manager again! Paid for drinks we couldn’t drink! Now I’m waiting for the repercussions of drinking milk! If this was an allergy not an intolerance they could have killed somebody!
Funny the wording on the window (see pic) says don’t trust anyone! Don’t trust these guys...
Read moreHad such a weird experience here. As there are only 3 vegan flavours I asked to try them before I purchased. The staff said “if you are looking for more vegan options you can go somewhere else” - even though I had said it was great that they had options as it was so difficult to find vegan options on the island and that I liked their hazelnut and was happy to buy it. I was also on my way to IL POSTO to get a coffee but was going getting a coffee with this place instead. So glad I didn’t! I was made to feel like I was just trying to score freebies. Some staff were rude and it was an...
