We have been to Avlios before and had a really nice meal which was the reason we went back to the restaurant with family this time. One of the main reasons that we went was for one particular dish which was the beef parpadelle however when we came to order we were told that they had a busy lunch and that there was no more left, which considering it is probably one of the most popular dishes was probably an oversight! There were specials which included grilled octopus which 2 of the party ordered having been told that it would come with tabbouleh and salad. We waited a while (25 mins) before the server came over and told us that there had been a problem with one of the octopus and that they could only do one serving so one of us opted for an alternative. Kids had pizza which were lovely and fresh from the wood fired oven but they had finished long before any of the mains came out despite other tables being served food continuously (I’m guessing down to the octopus fiasco) anyway the octopus came to the one successful member of the party which comprised of one large grilled tentacle on a bed of some kind of puree without a salad or tabbouleh in sight which was a far cry from what we had been told. There was also another dish ordered that was grilled fish supposed to come with vegetables and potatoes but came with a tabbouleh and salad! We had to complain which is never what you want to have to do. The service was poor and it just left us all feeling a little disappointed which is a shame as the courtyard setting...
Read moreBest meal in Skiathos! Wow, we came here on our second-to-last night, and I only wish we had discovered it sooner. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful and romantic, filled with greenery and a stunning pomegranate tree.
The food was incredible! We started with vine leaves and fried courgettes. The vine leaves were honestly the best I’ve ever had, and the courgettes were light and crispy, though the portion was huge for just the two of us.
For mains, we had pizza and pasta, and both were divine. The pizza dough was just perfect and the seafood pasta was perfectly cooked with loads of fresh seafood in a rich, creamy tomato sauce. It rivaled many of the meals we’ve had in Italy!
The portions are generous (we couldn’t finish everything but happily took half the pizza away), and the prices are very reasonable, the seafood spaghetti on the specials was just €19.
I only regret not finding this place earlier so we could have returned. A true gem...
Read moreHidden treasure! What an amazing place! The setting is nice in a courtyard surrounded by vines and trees. Grapes are hanging just above your head, and other fruit. Keira our waitress was polite, friendly and very efficient. We had the trilogy dip and mussels for starters. I particularly enjoyed the mussels because the sauce was thicker than usual but the taste was fantastic. For mains, we had lamb shank and beef stroganoff(with pasta). Both dishes tasted excellent and the size of the lamb shank was excellent too. The meat fell off the bone and the mash was super smooth. We also had a really nice orange pie desert, which was served cool drenched in syrup. I am not really a desert person but this too was amazing. We were so impressed that we are going back there again during our stay here, I would highly recommend...
