Kantouni Restaurant is without a doubt one of the best places to eat in Zakynthos.

This small, family-owned gem serves incredibly tasty and reasonably priced local dishes. If you’re looking to experience authentic Greek food in a warm, genuine setting—far away from the usual touristy spots—this is definitely the place to go.

The owner and staff are wonderfully welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home. We arrived without a reservation and had to wait a little, but the owner kept checking in on us and reassuring us we’d be seated soon. At first, we were given a table inside, which was perfectly fine, but shortly after he kindly offered us a table outside, even though we had already ordered. That level of thoughtfulness really made the experience stand out.

As for the food—absolutely delicious. The menu changes often, giving you the chance to try different local specialties, each prepared with care and flavor.

I've been going back to Greece every year for the last 6 years now. I've driven the entire country and have been to all the major islands. This restaurant, hands down, served our group the absolute best and truly home-cooked Greek food I've ever been served. No exaggeration. I've told people already, I will travel back to Zakynthos simply to eat at this restaurant.

To be fair, all the restaurants that we ate at in Zakynthos had better food than I've generally been served around Greece. It was beyond average in terms of the quality of ingredients AND the preparation, taste, creativity, etc.

However, the food at this particular place was bite-by-bite overwhelming. Our group of 5 couldn't contain our joy with every bite and EVERY dish. This never happens. We went back EVERY DAY and ate different home-cooked dishes. If you don't like it, I'll pay for your dinner! ;)

IF you get to eat here, count yourself lucky to have eaten Greek food as it might be prepared by someone's Yaya, full of love and goodness.
