Spartakos Taverna Zakynthos — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

I've travelled a lot in Greece and this restaurant has been the worst so far. We chose this place because of the good reviews, but they are quite misleading. TLDR. Do not go here, it bad, dirty, food was horrible and cats are mistreated.

The good the cocktails were very nice the restaurant is next to the port, so you have a good view

The bad and the ugly Food our food was very bad and tasteless. We ordered the lamb that had no seasoning. It was brought with oily water on the plate. I think it was simply cooked in the oven and thrown in the plate. My mother had the fish/sea food platter. Again, the fish itself is good (as it's all good around the island), but it had no spices or taste. My mom eats fish and seafood all the time, and this was the worst. Absolutely no cooking. It's just grilled.

My partner had the peppers/tomatoes filled with some meat and rice - it was again tastles. The food looked so bad that I didn't take any pictures, which I know regret as you shouldsee this food. My lamb was disgusting. We also ordered starters and additional baked potatoes. We saw the table next to us had some wonderful baked crispy potatoes. When our potatoes came, they were not cooked. We realised the table next to us was the owner and their friends. They got amazing looking food and service, our food and service were not close to what they had.

Dirt The waiter dropped the lamb juice plate on my new dress, did not apologise. He also threw my vape on the floor (by mistake), but again, he just left, did not say a thing.

Toilets The toilets were disgusting, as other reviewers mentioned. The toilets are separated by curtains. Cutains! In 2023! I could not use the toilet as it was making me nauseous.

Animal cruelty I know there are loads of stray cats in Greece but common! The cats there were starving and skinny, and the waiters kept stepping on them. Do not go there if you care about cats and strays. It was very sad to see. I gave most of our food to the cats.

We paid about 100 euros for our food, we treated the waiters nice, we did not comment on our food as we do not like to be rude. I recommend you stay away from this place. Especially since it's a family owned business and the owners seem to not care about customers...

Dont fall for the reviews. There is much better restaurants that dont have a wait.

I was very excited to try this place. Heard good things and always seems packed. We made a reservation but when we arrived the owner i think gave all his attention to someone else while we waited to speak to someone that we have a reservation which finally we did tell him just for him to tell someone else, then we waited and a third person came to seat us.

The waiter was great, bur overworked. Ton of tables and all over the place. 2 items we ordered were forgotten but not charged either. We couldn’t get a hold of anyone to correct it before it passed about 30 minutes. A young lad assisting was able to at-least get us dessert.

The food, ok at best. For almost 100 euro plate for 2. Lobster was way over cooked, and tasteless. The rest of the food is not any better than the other 50 Restaurants on the island we have tried. Atmosphere looks great, but lot of dust from the traffic will end in your face as well. Now the worst part was paying. It was almost impossible to find someone to pay. Again we flagged the owner down he nodded and smiled but proceeded to talk to a table and completely ignored us. Finally we got Our waiter who then told someone else and that person came. 150 euros for a dinner that was disappointing and service that was not there. Only our actual waiter was great, nice and talkative. But the guy was over worked and truly was running 100mph all over while the owner stood and laughed with guests...

SPARTAKOS taverna in Zakynthos is an absolute gem, and I can't give it anything less than a glowing 5-star review. This place is a seafood lover's paradise, and it exceeded all my expectations.

From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and hospitality of the staff, especially George, our waiter, made us feel right at home. George's exceptional service was a highlight of the evening. He not only took care of our every need but also engaged us with delightful conversation and jokes throughout the meal. His expertise in guiding us through the menu made our dining experience exceptional.

Stavros, another member of the staff, also deserves recognition for his fantastic recommendations from the menu. His insights added to the overall excellence of our dining adventure.
