Kati Psinete — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

Arrived at the restaurant around 12 am , the place closes at 1 am … ordered 5 pork souvlaki sticks because i personally think that they have the best souvlaki in the town of Zakynthos .. along with the order we got 2 chicken gyro pitas with yellow sauce some lamb and several drinks . The order arrived and I asked our waiter for 1 chicken gyro pita with yellow sauce to go after our meal.. he said there no more chicken .. I found it odd but I brushed it off and said ok thank you I don’t want anything else .. as my 2 kids were eating their pitas I noticed that the meat looked darker than usual! I asked my son for a piece of chicken from his pita to try it … THATS WHEN I FREAKED OUT ! I’m in the restaurant business and these people tried to pass a quick one on us thinking that we are dumb tourists.. ( btw we are also Greeks from abroad ) they had put pork gyro meat in the pita with yellow sauce trying to pass it off as a chicken pita … I call another waiter over and explained the situation while our original waiter was hiding in the restaurant not wanting to deal with what had happened! The 2nd waiter( 10 years working there ) was very apologetic, sincere and told me that he keeps telling the staff not to do sneaky moves like that because customers are not stupid and notice right away the scams that the staff pulls on tourists .. well he fell on the wrong guy ! I made sure to let them know that what they did was extremely wrong and that is the exact reason why tourists do not return to Zakynthos! We pay good money for good food but don’t pass my for a fool ! And seeing the 3 star rating that they have explains everything! Too bad for the dishonest service ! I would of spent alot of money there because the sticks are phenomenal but they are very dishonest in that particular evening both COOKS & WAITER made a huge purposely done mistake … and to the owner , I hope you read this because you have the right to know what’s happening in your restaurant and you’re not doing anything about it , well then you won’t stay open for long ! What an absolutely fabulous restaurant! Our first time in Zante, Greece and my friend and I was staying in Laganas. We got the bus over to Zakynthos main city area and wandered the sea front looking for a place to eat. This place stood out among all the rest of the restaurants as it offered a lovely Meat Platter to share. We ordered this and bottle of wine. The service was exceptional, the staff was polite and attentive to all our needs. The food was absolutely delicious and offered an authentic Greek experience. The location is perfect as we had picturesque surroundings of the sea front. We ordered a delightful Iced chocolate drink for dessert which was as refreshing as it was sweet. This place made such a positive impact on us that we came back a few days later. Service was just as perfect a second time around (us both ordering burgers of the brunch menu, highly recommend). The staff remembered us and said welcome back. Had we been closer we would have visited again. The whole experience was brilliant and we can't fault a thing! Could not recommend this place enough. I highly recommend this place, one of the best on the island! We flew here with my fiancé for the last vacation of the season and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, authentic, tasty, simply Greek. The restaurant has a great, cozy interior, and the staff were amazing, very professional. They always gave us good advice and took great care of us. We came with my fiancé almost every day and we never left disappointed, the portions were large and the value for money was very good. We will especially remember the last evening of our stay because the staff, as a farewell gesture, gave us cake with our dinner! It is not often that you come across such well-qualified staff, and we especially wanted to point out Ms. Nefeli, who always came to talk to us and made our evenings more pleasant even though she was not always serving us, and her colleagues were also very helpful. We will definitely be coming back with friends during our next stays on Zakynthos. We saw that the restaurant has some low ratings which are completely unfounded, so do not be guided by them. Five stars are not enough for such a good place, it is an absolute must-visit on the map...
