Taverna Dimitris — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

Taverna Dimitris is one of the most memorable places i’ve ever eaten at. from the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, who gave us a charming introduction to the menu. 🧍🏻‍♂️ the food was outstanding – fresh seafood and fish, cooked beautifully in a way that kept the traditional flavors intact. the portions were generous and hearty, yet everything tasted light and full of flavor. 🐟🦀🦐🦑 it’s a true family-run business, and you can feel that from the start. every member of the family is involved, all of them cheerful, welcoming, and eager to share the best of what they have. they made us feel like part of their family, and that warmth really set the experience apart. 👩🏻‍🤝‍👨🏼👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏼 we enjoyed it so much that we came back three times during our stay, and each time they surprised us with a little treat on the house, making sure we left happy and full. the location is also a bonus – tucked away near the edge of the port, where you can watch the ferries come and go. it’s peaceful, away from the busy main streets, which makes it even more enjoyable. 🤰🏻🫶🏻🐖 i’d recommend this place to anyone looking not just for good food, but for a genuinely warm and authentic...

First, don't let this man lure you in! The owner is such a magnet for tourists and he talks absolute nonsense for what feels like hours. He promises the best moussaka in Greece - I am not so sure, but the food was decent! Decide for yourself if what you see on people's tables looks good to you.

Food: we ordered grilled fish, which was pretty good and came with a side of vegetables. One complaint I have is that it was not seasoned at all, not sure why. We also had stuffed calamari - a bit overcooked and rubbery and the stuffing was ok.

Service: We really liked the service! Our waiter gave me an option to return my dish if I don't like it and not get charged for it (I didn't take him up on it, but that's still nice). There were many guests at the restaurant so the wait time was considerably long - we waited close to 1 hour. At the end of our visit, we got a small dessert on the house, which was delicious. 10/10 for hospitality for this family run place.

We spent our holiday in Zakynthos and tried many restaurants – but this one truly stood out! We were approached on the street in such a warm and friendly way, being told that they serve the best Moussaka. Of course, we had to try it – and honestly, it was by far the best meal we had on the island.

The service was absolutely outstanding. Spiros, our waiter, and his father made every visit so special – always friendly, attentive and making sure everything was perfect. Every special request was taken care of without any problem, always with a smile. This is a true family-run restaurant, and you can really feel the love and passion they put into everything.

I especially have to mention Katarina’s Mousaka – the best Greek food I have ever eaten! We kept coming back for the rest of our stay, and every single time the food was excellent and the service perfect.
