Visited the area for the castle. We noticed the cafe and thought we will go for a coffee. On the window outside there is a sign saying wear a face mask when entering so we complied. We walked inside and asked for 2 coffees and the lady who greeted us asked if we have proof of vaccination status before going any further. Me and my partner are both vaccinated but thought it was a bit strange since we have been in Greece for almost a week and this is the 1st time we have been asked for this. After a bit of research I now understand this is a requirement in some establishments in Greece and had this been advertised when entering the premesis we would have been happy to provide it but it's a bit embarrassing having to pull all of your documents out in the middle of a cafe in front of people. When she asked for vaccine documents my partner said 'what?' (confused by the question) she proceeded to tell us to wait outside (it was raining). Your country your rules but a bit of understanding wouldn't have gone a miss -'sorry to ask but its our policy' or a sign on the door? It was a straight up no vaccination no entry feeling we got. Regret buying a takeaway coffee now but felt embarrassed telling her...
Read moreI ordered a 600ml draft beer for 6€ in the menu and received 500ml beer. Waitress explained that it's 500ml + 100 ml foam! Quite a creative explanation but unfortunately I'm not a 5 year old and have ordered beers before :) Had to pay full price despite pointing out the "mistake" and realizing that they rip every customer off that way. Really sad way of dealing with customers, fortunately this is a rare occurrence in Greece.
UPDATE concerning the response by the owner: I took the picture after I started drinking the beer. I just wanted to show that the glass is a 0.5L but I paid for 0.6L. The beer was filled to 0.5L Just go revise your menu and don't cheat your customers that pay your rent. It sure seems like this is done on purpose. Your menu is incorrect and you know it as much as I know it. Your glass has a 0.5L marking and your advertising it as 0.6L - Your menu also has a 0.5L beer for 5€ as you're well aware of. Money has to be earned before it can be spent and like most people I just don't like the be ripped off. The customer isn't...
Read moreCharging €8.50 for a 50cl Alfa beer is essentially asking your customers to visit once and never return.
Tourists are not foolish — we understand the value of money.
A scenic location doesn’t make the beer taste any better. It’s the same Alfa I can get elsewhere for €5.50.
Be smart: charge a fair price and encourage repeat customers. As it stands, you're only hurting your own business.
Edit after the owner's answer.
Do you think that lying about it will earn you more customers? Whoever reads this review, will avoid your place.
My initial bill said: 8.50 € for 2 drought 50 cl Alfa beers for a total of 17 €. Other than that I ordered a portion of fries for 6 € for a total bill of 23 €.
You can lie as much as you want. I cannot tell you how to manage your relationship with your customers but I can say that you are ripping them off and you deserve to have your terrace...
