Senso — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

Looks from the outside very nice but sadly that’s it. Our experience was not good.

We ordered two main courses with a glass of sparkling water and a glass of still water. When it came to the water we were told that it only came in bottles so we ordered a bottle of each and when they came to the table they were litre bottles how on earth would you think expect someone to drink a litre of water with a main meal.

The price of the water coming to €9:00.

On looking around I noticed every other guests were drinking water without any sign of any bottles on the tables so there must be an option for a glass of water.

I thought I would query this and the waitress said she did not know why and went and to ask a colleague, at this point the same waiter who originally took our order came over and said “I understand there is something wrong with the water” I asked him why he initially told us that we had to order water in bottles when you could see all the other tables been provided otherwise and he said “ we cannot serve tap water “ at this point he knew we had caught him out and said in a very demeaning manner “well if you want I can take this off the bill” which we declined, but it really made us feel he felt that we were below his standard of customer that he expects to dine at this restaurant.

It is not the cost that mattered to us it is the principle of being misled. We feel as if this business will try to take advantage of customers if they can.

The service was average and the food is nothing special as the menu is similar to the numerous restaurants on the square.

Our visit at Senso was made truly special by the wonderful atmosphere and an extraordinary welcome from a young man named Thanasis. From the moment we arrived, his positive energy was infectious. With his natural charm, warm personality, and great sense of humor, Thanasis made us feel like we were more than just guests — we felt genuinely welcomed. What struck us the most was how effortlessly he connected with us, without relying on typical and overused restaurant talk about having “the best food” or “the finest drinks.” It was his authenticity and positive energy that immediately drew us in and made us choose Senso.

The restaurant itself was equally delightful. The cozy, inviting atmosphere set the perfect mood for the evening, and the food was delicious, even though a few dishes could have been a bit warmer. Still, the quality of the meal, combined with the ambiance, created a great dining experience. But it was really Thanasis who made the night unforgettable. His ability to make us feel comfortable and cared for was remarkable, and it’s rare to meet someone who can radiate such genuine positivity.

All in all, it was the combination of Thanasis’ incredible hospitality and the wonderful setting of Senso that made our evening so enjoyable. I’m grateful for the positive energy he brought to our experience, and I can only hope to meet more people like him on my future travels. We are not used to writing reviews, but in this case we do it to protect other people who, like us, were just passing by and might end up having the same bad experience. Terrible experience at Senso in the center of Zakynthos. We were invited in by the man outside and, attracted by the look of the place, we decided to sit down. From the very beginning, big difficulties: I asked for some changes to the menu because of food allergies, but the waitress barely didnt understand English and I had to show my list of allergens in different languages, including Greek. After a long wait, only the main dishes arrived, while the starter was never served. We had to ask three times for the bottle of wine, which was finally brought at the end of the meal with the excuse that they had no proper glasses… but in reality, wine glasses were visible on a tray nearby, just dirty. Why let customers in if you are not prepared to serve them properly? In the end, neither the starter nor the wine was served on time, but both were still charged on the bill.
