Grilled Greek Sea Bream – Zakynthos Style: A Taste of the Ionian Coast

Crisp sea air, turquoise waters, and a sizzling skillet – this Greek bream cooked in garlic butter with herbs is everything you’d dream of from a coastal Zakynthian meal. The bream, freshly caught and grilled whole, comes served skin-on, golden and crisp, with the flesh flaking away at the slightest touch of a fork.

The aroma hits first – warm butter infused with crushed garlic, a squeeze of fresh lemon, and a dusting of oregano, thyme, and parsley, mingling with the charred scent from the grill. Locals sometimes add capers or olive tapenade on the side for an extra pop of briny flavour.

I have to say that there is nothing better than real Greek food and great Greek hospitality. This grill restaurant is located on the beach, with a wonderful view so eating here is a real pleasure. I ordered chicken and pork souvlaki with Greek salad and crafted regional beer. The waiting time was maybe 10-15 minutes , the portions were really big and the salad was enough for two people. All tasted very very good and the price was also good. Another good thing is that this restaurant works until 11:00 pm without siesta so any traveller no matter the time of the day can come here and have a nice meal. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is quiet but cheerful. They offer a lot of different food so I am sure anyone can find something to their taste.
